Description

At CluePoints, we’re redefining how clinical trials are run. As the premier provider of Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) and Data Quality Oversight software, we harness advanced statistics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to ensure the quality, accuracy, and integrity of clinical trial data, helping life sciences organizations bring safer, more effective treatments to patients faster.

We’re proud to be an ambitious, fast-growing technology scale-up with a dynamic and diverse international team representing more than 20 nationalities. Collaboration, flexibility, and continuous learning are part of our DNA.

At CluePoints, you’ll find a culture where you can grow, make an impact, and have fun along the way. Guided by our values of Care, Passion, and Smart Disruption, we’re united by a shared mission: to create smarter ways to run efficient clinical trials and deliver AI-powered insights that improve human outcomes worldwide.

The Role

We’re looking for a Principal Architect to join our Data Layer squad and contribute to our mission of transforming clinical research through data-driven insights. This is a hands-on, player-coach role: you’ll own the design of the CluePoints data layer and build it with the squad. You’ll report to our GM, with a dotted line to the VP Engineering.

Requirements

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Metadata-driven platform experience: You have built and evolved a metadata-driven, schema-flexible data platform in production. You’ve lived through the schema changes, migrations, and edge cases that follow, not just the initial design.
  • Hands-on engineering: You still write production code. You contribute to the codebase, review pull requests, and stay close enough to the work to make sound technical calls.
  • Audit-grade engineering mindset: You’ve worked in a regulated domain and built for lineage, versioning, and attributable change. You can show how every data point got to where it is and who changed it, and when.
  • AI-first delivery: You use AI as a core part of how you and your team design, build, and ship, not as an occasional add-on

Nice to Have
  • Multi-tenant SaaS experience with strong data segregation.
  • Familiarity with clinical data, CDISC, or standards such as FHIR, OMOP, and ODM. We’ll help you with the clinical side.
  • Open-source contributions or talks in data lineage, metadata, or health data interoperability (e.g. OpenLineage, DataHub, Iceberg, HAPI FHIR, OHDSI).
