About the Role

RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Security Project Manager for our client, a pivotal freelance opportunity based in Brussels with partial remote flexibility. You will lead the implementation and monitoring of security projects within a major NIS2 security program, driving the organization to achieve NIS2 Essentials compliance by April 2027. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of ICT security projects, ensuring alignment with program schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Drive project planning, execution, and risk management, including detailed scheduling, milestone tracking, and proactive issue resolution.
• Oversee the transition of security solutions from project delivery to operational status, including operational planning, support, and process documentation.
• Centralize and control project evidence and documentation to ensure audit readiness, compliance, and transparent reporting within the security program.
• Organize and execute change management processes, including communication plans and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Act as a motivating, advisory, and facilitating leader for management, business units, and project teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Coach, coordinate, and inspire multidisciplinary teams throughout project implementation, ensuring clarity, accountability, and delivery excellence.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, using visualization techniques to support understanding and drive alignment.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Minimum 8 years of project management experience, including requirements gathering, planning (WBS, dependencies), and KPI-driven delivery.
• Proven track record in security project management, with hands-on involvement in at least three IT security domains (e.g., network security, endpoint security, IAM, Central Logging, DLP, DRP, PIM/PAM, Threat Modelling, DB-anonymization, secure development).
• Experience documenting infrastructure solutions designed by architects and implemented by operational teams.
• Certification in or demonstrable experience with PRINCE2 or equivalent project management frameworks.
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIS2, ISO27001, NIST, or DORA, with relevant certification or practical experience.
• Strong technological leadership, with a passion for coaching and motivating teams in complex, high-stakes environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to visualize and present complex information clearly.

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch or French, with a good passive understanding of the other national language.

Other Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to manage technically complex security projects, monitor dependencies, and identify bottlenecks early.
• Strong organizational, coordination, and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting change management, stakeholder alignment, and visual reporting.
• Ability to motivate and coordinate staff during project implementation.
• Partial remote work is available; presence in Brussels required for key meetings and milestones.
• This is a freelance position with a 13-month project duration.

Selection Process

• In your CV, describe in a maximum of 20 lines the core components you believe must minimally be present in an enterprise security program. Briefly explain why these components are necessary and how they contribute to an integrated approach to risk, compliance, operational security, and organization-wide monitoring.
• CVs will be analyzed and a shortlist of 3-5 candidates will be drawn up based on the criteria established in the ProUnity contract.
• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview to assess technical and generic competencies, as well as language skills.
• A final ranking will be established following interviews.
