About the Role

RELYzIT Talent is seeking four experienced Test Automation Engineers to join our client’s agile teams within a large-scale, complex government environment in Brussels. This is a freelance consultancy assignment, designed for those who thrive on impact, innovation, and building quality at scale. You’ll be at the heart of digital transformation, ensuring that mission-critical systems are robust, reliable, and future-ready.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts for complex enterprise applications
• Creating and executing automated test scenarios across API, integration, regression, and end-to-end layers
• Integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous quality
• Analyzing, documenting, and reporting test results to drive actionable insights
• Managing test data and environments to ensure repeatable, reliable testing
• Collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders in multidisciplinary agile teams
• Proactively identifying and implementing improvements in testing processes, tools, and frameworks
• Championing quality, efficiency, and automation throughout the software development lifecycle

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Test Automation Engineer in complex environments
• Proven expertise in Agile Testing and structured test methodologies
• Ownership mindset: you take initiative, challenge the status quo, and deliver impactful solutions
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Critical thinker with a constructive, solution-oriented approach
• Team player who thrives in agile, collaborative settings
• Ability to work independently and proactively drive quality improvements

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency with Selenium (v4+), Cucumber/Gherkin, and Java (OO architecture)
• Hands-on experience with Rest Assured, SoapUI, Postman, and Swagger for API testing
• Strong command of Jira, Confluence, and Xray for test management and documentation
• Version control with Git/GitLab
• Build and dependency management using Maven
• Test frameworks: TestNG or JUnit
• CI/CD pipeline integration
• Containerization experience with Kubernetes
• SQL and test data management
• XPath and CSS Selectors, Regular Expressions
• Basic knowledge of Angular in a testing context

Language Proficiency

• Fluent in Dutch or French
• Good working knowledge of English
• Bilingual (Dutch/French) is a strong plus

Other Requirements

• Knowledge of ISTQB, TMap, STBox, or comparable test frameworks
• Experience with TDD, ATDD, BDD, Exploratory Testing, and Session-Based Testing
• Experience within government or large, complex organizations is a plus
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum; experience as a Scrum Master is an advantage
• Willingness to work 50% onsite in Brussels (hybrid model)
