Role: Scrum Master & Senior Java Developer
Location: Brussels Hybrid (minimum 2 days onsite per week)
Start Date: 06/10/2025
Duration: Long term (initial 12+ months, with possible extension)
Employment: Full-time
Language Requirements: French or Dutch (active knowledge) and English (professional proficiency)
Context
A major organisation is looking for a Scrum Master & Senior Java Developer to join its Agile delivery team. The role combines hands-on senior Java development with coaching, Agile facilitation, and ensuring best practices across the team.
This is a great opportunity to work on impactful applications that support national and international data exchanges and services.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies and act as Scrum Master for the development team.
- Lead Java development, including adaptation, refactoring, and new feature design.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality code.
- Support application deployments and collaborate on technical design with architects.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise standards and reduce technical debt.
- Coach junior and mid-level developers to strengthen team delivery.
- Document solutions and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
Must-Have Skills
- Solid experience in Java (J2EE, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST/SOAP, EJB3).
- Proficiency in SQL (advanced queries).
- Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Maven, IntelliJ, and related CI/CD tools.
- Strong grasp of Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.
- Experience in technical solution design and breaking down complex applications.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Active knowledge of French or Dutch, plus English.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of JBoss and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
- Public-sector project experience.
- Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
