RELYzIT Talent is seeking a Functional Analyst - Technical for a high-impact freelance assignment with our client in Brussels. The systems you’ll help shape underpin essential services, including unemployment regulation, payments, and financial processing. Your work will ensure these critical applications are robust, secure, and future-ready, directly impacting the lives of citizens and the efficiency of public services.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Conduct functional analyses with a technical focus to support business projects and drive architectural clarity.
• Advise development teams on integrations, data models, performance, and scalability to ensure robust solutions.
• Champion the adoption of new technologies and architectural patterns, initiating or validating Proof-of-Concepts.
• Organise and lead design reviews, ensuring compliance with architecture standards and best practices.
• Continuously improve system maintainability, security, and decoupling, with a strong focus on documentation.
• Facilitate communication and alignment between business, development, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Translate complex technical choices into accessible language for diverse stakeholders.
• Support collective decision-making and foster convergence of technical visions across teams.
• Contribute to the upskilling and knowledge-sharing within teams, building a culture of continuous improvement.
• Analyse and resolve business-critical problems, ensuring consistency between legacy and modern components.
• Translate enterprise guidance into actionable technical models and design performant, maintainable architectures.
• Integrate security by design, translating NIS2 requirements into concrete technical measures.
• Promote secure coding practices, supervision, and auditability mechanisms throughout the development lifecycle.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Proven expertise in technical data: modelling, data management, integration, and security.
• In-depth knowledge of Atlassian/Jira for project tracking and collaboration.
• Strong experience with relational databases (MySQL) and advanced data modelling.
• Excellent analytical and synthesis capabilities, with a track record of solving complex problems.
• Hands-on experience with modern Java (Spring, microservices, API-driven, event-driven architectures).
• Demonstrated experience within a federal public service or similarly complex, regulated environments.
• Confirmed ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Other Requirements

• Confirmed experience as a Functional Analyst in complex IT environments.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative project frameworks.
• Ability to work partially remote after an initial two-week onboarding period onsite in Brussels.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.
