Company
Trusted Family builds the technology that helps multigenerational family businesses stay connected, organized and aligned.
For more than 15 years, we’ve worked with 250 family enterprises across 35 countries, including the families behind world-renowned brands such as Michelin, Solvay, Peugeot and Tabasco.
We’re a SaaS company of around 25 people, with teams in Belgium, Lisbon and Austin. We’re small by design: experienced people, real ownership and little hierarchy building for the long term.
Today, we’re expanding our platform into new areas and exploring how AI can help family enterprises manage knowledge and make better decisions across generations.
Role & Qualification
What you'll be doing
• Build complete features from conception to launch, making key product and technical decisions
• Own the features you build and lead improvements that advance the product
• Build and maintain scalable systems that support our growing platform and user base
• Continuously improve and optimize features based on user feedback and business goals
• Define how AI can improve the user experience in our product
• Review your colleagues’ work, pair up when needed Who we're looking for
• You've built B2B SaaS products end-to-end, owning both product decisions and technical execution
• You think like a product owner: you read users, check data, and decide what gets built next
• You care more about whether the customer's problem got solved than how many tickets you closed
• You're driven by curiosity and impact, you try new tools fast, and build your own when none fit
• You’re fluent with AI tooling in your day-to-day work and treat it as a multiplier, not a novelty; which tools you use is up to you
• You have opinions on architecture and UX, and push for the right call How we workWe're a small engineering team, and we don't hire rockstars or ninjas. We'd rather have people who build things carefully than people who save the day. That's how we avoid crunch: by engineering well enough that releasing on a Friday is a non-event, not an act of courage. We work mostly remotely and independently. You own your work end to end and shape your own day, but you're never on your own. We stay reachable, pair when it helps, and treat asking for help as part of the job. We keep fixed meetings to a minimum and meet when there's something worth discussing. That leaves real time to do focused work and review each other's work properly. What we work withOur technical stack and important architectural patterns. This is not a “must-know” list, but it gives you an idea of what you will be working with, and what you should see yourself using.
• GraphQL server backed by Ruby (on Rails), and Node services
• Event Sourcing and cryptographic deletion
• Feature flag based release process
• React frontend with Relay interfacing with the Graph
• Postgres, Elasticsearch and Valkey for storage
• K8s, Terraform on AWS and with Cloudflare at the edge
• Mature E2E first test suite
• AI flexible, with no (current) engineer limited by tokens
• We work on Mac’s, using CLI tools Why working at Trusted Family is different
• Engineering excellence without dogma Quality matters. Architecture matters. Security matters. We build good software, even if it takes a bit longer.
• Greenfield without the startup gamble There’s a mature product and profitable business underneath you, while significant new product areas still need to be built.
• AI native engineering Not “curious about AI.” Engineers are expected to actively use AI to expand their speed, range and quality. You are free to choose your tools, with responsibility for the output.
• Small, senior, flat team Few layers, experienced peers, direct access to Product, Company and Technical leads.
• Craft over career ladder Growth at Trusted Family means deepening your expertise and broadening your impact, not climbing a corporate ladder.
• A genuinely grown up work culture Flexibility, trust and life outside work, without lowering expectations. No performative busyness or permanent crunch. How we hireWe're busy, and so are you. We respect your time and expect the same in return, so our process is short and deliberate. There's no take-home assignment. Any time you spend, we spend with you: if we want to see you work through a problem, we'll do it together in a session rather than send you off with homework. The first calls are short and over Zoom. The real meat (and meet) is in person: once we're both interested, we'll bring you in to spend proper time with us. You'll be interviewed by the people you'd actually work with, not a hiring panel from outside the company. They're the ones who know what the job needs, and you'll get an honest picture of the team you'd be joining.
