About the role
• Translate business strategy and high-level ideas into coherent business, process, functional and solution architectures that can be implemented in practice.
• Design target operating models that clarify how processes, responsibilities, users and systems work together, including who does what, through which process and in which application.
• Define solution, application, integration & data architectures for new initiatives and projects, specifying which applications and components support which goals, users and use cases.
• Assess the current landscape, identify reusable capabilities, gaps and required changes, and turn these findings into clear architectural choices and implementation roadmaps.
• Make balanced build-versus-buy decisions, taking into account strategic fit, time to market, total cost, maintainability, scalability, security and operational impact.
• When external solutions are required, define functional and solution requirements, support market exploration and guide RFP and vendor-selection processes through to a substantiated recommendation.
• Understand and explain how each initiative fits within the broader functional, organizational and technical ecosystem, including dependencies and consequences for processes, teams, costs, controls, compliance and technology.
• Guide stakeholders towards informed decisions by ensuring that relevant options and their implications, trade-offs and risks are identified, understood and explicitly accepted.
• Define, create and maintain the architectural views, principles and documentation needed to help business, operations and technology teams understand, implement, manage and evolve the architecture.
• Safeguard the long-term quality of the landscape, with particular attention to maintainability, extensibility, usability, performance, integration, security, resilience & resilience governance.
Your profile
• You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Economics or a related field, or have built equivalent expertise through experience.
• You have 5 years of relevant experience in business architecture, functional architecture, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, business analysis or a comparable role. You are able to understand strategic business ambitions and translate them into structured process, operating-model, application and solution designs.
• You combine conceptual thinking with pragmatism. You can move comfortably between a high-level vision and the detail required to make solutions implementable.
• You understand application landscapes, integrations and system responsibilities, without needing to be the deepest technical specialist in every technology.
• You are a strong facilitator and communicator (fluently in Dutch and English) who can align business, operations, technology, finance, risk, compliance and external partners.
• You make complex choices understandable, challenge constructively and create clarity around decisions, dependencies, ownership and consequences.
• Experience with software selection, RFP processes, vendor assessments, build-versus-buy decisions and architecture governance is a strong asset.
• Experience in financial services, payments, payment cards, fintech or another regulated and transaction-intensive environment is considered a plus.
