About the Firm
We are an established single-family office managing a diversified, multi-asset portfolio across public and private markets, now opening a new office in Hong Kong. This role is the founding hire for that office.
The Role
This is the founding professional hire for our new Hong Kong office. You will own fundamental Asia equity coverage within a diversified family-office portfolio and, as the firm’s sole professional on the ground, establish and manage the office’s relationships with banks, brokers, and other service providers. Working directly with the CIO, you will generate high-conviction, actionable equity ideas grounded in rigorous financial modelling, valuation, and macro and sector analysis. Your work feeds straight into Investment Committee decisions, portfolio construction, and ongoing monitoring
- with a broad mandate, direct access to the principal, and real ownership of both your coverage and the office you help build.
The objective is to help achieve the return targets set out in the firm’s Investment Policy Statement (IPS), within its defined risk limits.
Key Responsibilities
Equity research:
• Conduct fundamental research on Asian equities, including three-statement modelling, earnings forecasts, and valuation.
• Track sector and thematic trends across your coverage; identify opportunities and risks.
• Generate clear buy / hold / sell recommendations with defined theses, catalysts, and entry and exit levels.
• Build and maintain financial models and a coverage database, updating assumptions as conditions change.
• Maintain dialogue with company management / IR and sell-side analysts to inform your views, under the guidance of the CIO. Relationship management and office representation:
• As the firm’s sole professional in Hong Kong, establish and manage relationships with banks, brokers, and other service providers.
• Represent the family office in counterparty meetings and at relevant industry events, under the guidance of the CIO. Market and economic monitoring:
• Monitor macroeconomic indicators, central-bank policy, and geopolitical developments affecting Asian equity markets.
• Surface emerging trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to the portfolio. Reporting and Investment Committee:
• Produce research reports and presentations with clear conclusions
- key thesis drivers, risk assessment, supporting data, and target entry / exit prices.
• Present recommendations to the Investment Committee and contribute to periodic portfolio reviews for the principal. Collaboration:
• Work with the CIO and Risk Manager to integrate research into portfolio construction and risk management.
• Contribute to internal discussions on positioning and performance. Requirements
• 5–7+ years of relevant equity research experience in Hong Kong / Chinese markets
- buy-side asset management, single/multi-family office, or sell-side equity research / corporate finance.
• Strong financial modelling and valuation skills (three-statement models, DCF, multiples).
• Demonstrated ability to generate actionable equity ideas that have been executed.
• Confident establishing and managing external relationships and representing a firm with counterparties
- important for a sole-professional office.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field; CFA (or progress toward it) preferred.
• Mandarin essential (Native or Bilingual proficiency); English (Native or Bilingual proficiency) (main language used within the firm); Cantonese strongly preferred;
• Right to work in Hong Kong preferred; visa sponsorship is available for strong candidates.
• No SFC licensing required
- the role operates under the family-office exemption.
• High ethical standards, discretion, and intellectual rigor consistent with a UHNW family-office environment.
What We Offer
• Competitive base salary, a discretionary performance bonus, and a standard package of benefits.
• The opportunity to build out a new Hong Kong office, with a broad equity mandate, direct access to the CIO and principal, and meaningful ownership of your coverage.
• This is an equal opportunities posting.
