Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. This is an on-site role and relocation to Guangzhou is required. LinkedIn’s location field only allows Hong Kong for this listing, but the position is based at our studio in Guangzhou. Carla Croman Studio is a boutique womenswear design and product development studio based in Guangzhou. We are looking for an experienced Senior Womenswear Designer & Garment Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on role combining creative design with professional technical development. You will work closely with our design team, pattern makers and local suppliers to develop garments from initial concept through fabric selection, technical documentation, sampling and fittings. Responsibilities
* Develop womenswear designs and translate creative concepts into clear, commercially viable styles.
* Prepare and review professional technical packs, including construction details, points of measurement, measurement charts, bill of materials, trims and sewing instructions.
* Research, assess and select fabrics according to the design, garment construction and intended fit.
* Evaluate fabric composition, weight, hand feel, drape, stretch and recovery, and explain how these properties may affect the garment and its measurements.
* Review fabric swatches and communicate fabric and construction requirements to suppliers.
* Work with pattern makers on garment construction, fit and pattern corrections.
* Attend fittings, assess samples and provide precise, practical comments for revisions.
* Follow up with local suppliers and factories on sample development and resolve technical issues.
* Manage several styles and development stages while maintaining quality and deadlines. Qualifications
* Professional experience in womenswear design and garment technical development.
* Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, fit and fabric behaviour.
* Proven experience preparing and reviewing detailed technical packs.
* Confident assessing fabrics and matching them to a garment’s design and performance requirements.
* Excellent attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills.
* Good English communication skills.
* Comfortable working on-site and collaborating with a team and local suppliers in Guangzhou.
* Candidates currently based in the Philippines are welcome to apply if they are willing to relocate to Guangzhou. Work authorisation arrangements will be discussed during the hiring process. Benefits
