Rmoni
- Part of CHR Group Rmoni designs wireless sensors and gateways that monitor temperature and critical parameters for food safety, cold chain and GxP-validated pharma and hospital environments. Over 40,000 of our sensors are installed at 2,000+ customers across Europe, including McDonald's, Coca-Cola and KLM. Rmoni is now part of CHR Group. We are looking for an embedded engineer who owns our devices end to end. You write the firmware of our battery-powered wireless sensors and gateways, design their hardware, take them through certification and keep them reliable in the field. You join a small, hands-on team in Bilzen (Limburg) and work closely with Sven, our firmware developer. What you will work on
• Products: wireless temperature sensors that wake every 5 minutes and run 3 to 5 years on a battery, and gateways sending data to our cloud platform with email and SMS alarms.
• Firmware: embedded C, bare-metal (no OS), on Silicon Labs microcontrollers.
• Radio: ZigBee / IEEE 802.15.4.
• Hardware: PCB design and improvements to existing sensors and gateways.
• Certification: CE and country-specific approvals, such as FCC for the US.
• Volume: about 500 sensors and 200 gateways per month, built by external manufacturers. Out of scope: the RmoniWeb cloud platform and mobile apps. You align the device-to-cloud interface with the software team. What you will do
• Hardware and firmware development: write and review firmware, design schematics and PCBs, improve existing sensors and gateways, steer external freelancers.
• Release and certification: write test plans, run the certifications each market needs, prepare production files and tools, manage product releases.
• Quality in the field: analyse RMAs and escalated support cases, investigate failures in the lab and on site, drive corrective actions with the manufacturer.
• Technical ownership: advise product management, contribute to the hardware roadmap, document products and processes so Operations and Support can work without you. We expect you to be productive after one to two months, and to become the recognised hardware and firmware reference within your first year. What you bring
• A degree in electronics, embedded systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Several years ( 3 to 5 years) as an embedded engineer on microcontroller-based products
• Solid embedded C on microcontrollers, bare-metal or close to the hardware.
• Hands-on hardware

skills:
reading and designing schematics and PCBs, bring-up, lab debugging.
• Fluent English. You write clear documentation and explain technical choices to non-engineers. Nice to have
• Dutch (native Dutch is preferred).
• Silicon Labs microcontrollers.
• ZigBee or other RF / wireless protocols.
• Low-power design for battery-operated devices.
• Taking a product through CE or other certification.
• Experience with external manufacturers and series production.

What we offer
• Real ownership: your firmware and boards run in thousands of sites across Europe.
• A small team where decisions are quick, inside a growing international group (CHR Group).
• Office in Bilzen (Limburg, BE), close to Maastricht, Hasselt and Liège. 2 to 3 days per week on site.
• Start as soon as possible.
