The Corporate Services Officer (CSO) plays an important support role within the Corporate Services Team at the British Consulate-General (BCG) in Hong Kong, helping to deliver the administrative and operational services that keep the British Consulate-General to run effectively. The Corporate Services Team (CST) is the “engine room” of the BCG, providing a broad range of essential services — including finance, procurement, HR, protocol and IT — in support of British Government objectives in Hong Kong. The work is rewarding, varied and central to the effective functioning of the Consulate. This supporting role provides an excellent opportunity for someone to develop, or further deepen, their experience in operational delivery whilst working for a prestigious international organisation. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong administrative and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, and a flexible, can-do approach to supporting a busy operational team. What the Jobholder will be Expected to Achieve: HR and Protocol Support
• Manage HR and protocol records and databases.
• Provide clear guidance to new starters and hiring managers on recruitment, onboarding and departure procedures. Lead on administration and prepare required paperwork.
• Assist with official documentation including Note Verbales, internal and external returns, import and export processes (vehicles, heavy baggage, and airfreight).
• Work closely with the Corporate Services Manager (CSM) to implement improvements to HR and protocol processes. Finance & Procurement
• Work in partnership with the regional Payroll Hub based in Manila and the Deputy CSM on payroll administration and employer tax returns.
• Perform end of month accounting duties.
• Procurement requisitioner in CST. Manage the invoicing and payment of various Consulate accounts. Other Resilience Support
• Provide cross-team resilience, help cover gapped positions in CST and take on other ad hoc tasks as required.
• Contribute to wider activities in the Consulate through active involvement in a range of staff committee and corporate events. The above list is not exhaustive. The jobholder will be expected to work flexibly and may be required to undertake other duties from time to time, as reasonably required, to meet changing operational needs.
