Job Type
Contract OWN Academy is Asia's premier experiential learning company. We help young people aged 9-28 develop purpose as they discover who they are becoming and accelerate talent development of the next generation. At the core of what we do is a simple idea: transform employers into educators, so young people learn directly from the best professionals, companies and brands. We are experiential and practical by design. Where traditional education stops at theory, our students work on real problems, guided by real professionals, inside real companies. We bring in leading companies from Asia and the Middle East to give our students exclusive access to a professional network most people don't encounter until well into their careers. At OWN Academy, we believe that:
• Intelligence is diverse
• Confidence is built through experience
• Growth happens when young people feel safe enough to try, fail, reflect, and try again Our core competencies "OWNIT" guide everything we do:
• O
- Openness & growth mindset
• W
- Work ethic & commitment to excellence
• N
- Networking & communication
• I
- Innovation & creativity
• T
- Teamwork & empathy We are a lean remote-first team working across Asia as well as the Middle East. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Role Overview The Facilitator will lead discussions, activities, workshops, and experiential learning sessions for young people aged 9-18. This is not a traditional teaching role. We are looking for people who can create meaningful conversations, ask thoughtful questions, encourage participation, challenge young people to think differently, and help them learn through experience. You will create an environment where young people feel comfortable sharing their ideas, asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from one another. The ideal Facilitator is curious, engaging, empathetic, confident in front of a group, and genuinely enjoys working with young people.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitation & Discussion Leadership
• Facilitate workshops, discussions, activities, and experiential learning sessions for young people.
• Lead conversations that encourage students to think critically, express their ideas, and consider different perspectives.
• Ask thoughtful and open-ended questions rather than simply providing answers.
• Encourage students to participate actively and ensure different voices are heard.
• Adapt your facilitation style based on the age, personality, confidence, and needs of the group.
• Keep discussions engaging, purposeful, and aligned with the objectives of each program.
• Create a positive and inclusive environment where young people feel safe to contribute. Youth Engagement & Development
• Build genuine rapport and trust with students.
• Encourage young people to step outside their comfort zones while maintaining a supportive environment.
• Help students reflect on their experiences and identify what they have learned.
• Encourage curiosity, confidence, collaboration, and independent thinking.
• Recognise when a student needs additional encouragement, support, or space.
• Model OWN Academy's values through your own communication and behaviour. Experiential Learning
• Guide students through real-world challenges, projects, case studies, and activities.
• Help students connect what they are doing with broader questions about their interests, strengths, goals, and future.
• Encourage students to learn from both successes and mistakes.
• Facilitate reflection sessions that help students turn experiences into meaningful learning.
• Support students in developing communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Session Preparation
• Review program objectives, facilitator guides, lesson plans, activities, and briefing materials before each session.
• Prepare questions, discussion prompts, activities, and examples to support the learning experience.
• Coordinate with OWN Academy's program team, educators, mentors, and guest speakers.
• Ensure all required materials and resources are ready before the session.
• Provide feedback after sessions to help improve future programs. Classroom & Group Management
• Confidently manage groups of young people while maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere.
• Keep students focused and engaged without making the experience feel overly rigid.
• Manage different personalities, energy levels, and participation styles.
• Address challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Set clear expectations while maintaining warmth, empathy, and approachability. Community & Relationship Building
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, educators, mentors, and industry professionals.
• Represent OWN Academy professionally at workshops, events, company visits, and other learning experiences.
• Help create a strong sense of community among students.
• Encourage collaboration and peer-to-peer learning. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with the OWN Academy program and education teams.
• Collaborate with guest speakers, mentors, professionals, and partner organisations.
• Share observations and student feedback with the program team.
• Contribute ideas for improving session design, student engagement, and learning outcomes.
• Support the team during events, programs, and experiential learning activities. Qualifications
• Experience facilitating workshops, discussions, youth programs, education programs, training, coaching, community activities, or similar experiences.
• Experience working with young people is highly preferred.
• Strong communication and public speaking skills.
• Confident leading discussions and speaking in front of groups.
• Naturally curious and able to ask thoughtful, engaging questions.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Empathetic, patient, approachable, and comfortable working with different personalities.
• Able to manage groups while maintaining a positive and inclusive environment.
• Comfortable working with students from different cultural and social backgrounds.
• Able to think on your feet and adapt when a discussion or activity takes an unexpected direction.
• Organised, reliable, and prepared.
• Passionate about youth development, education, mentorship, and experiential learning.
• Professional, energetic, and enthusiastic about working with young people.
• Available to facilitate sessions in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Abu Dhabi, depending on location.
• Comfortable working flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends when programs require it. The Ideal Person You are someone young people naturally want to talk to. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room. You know how to listen, ask the right question, bring quieter students into the conversation, and challenge confident students to think deeper. You are comfortable when there is no single "right" answer. You enjoy seeing a conversation develop, helping students discover their own ideas, and watching a young person become more confident as they realise what they are capable of. You can manage a group without dominating it. You can be structured without being rigid. You can challenge young people while making them feel supported. Most importantly, you genuinely care about young people and believe that meaningful experiences, conversations, and relationships can shape who they become. If you are a confident communicator, thoughtful facilitator, natural relationship-builder, and passionate youth mentor, we would love to hear from you.
