Starbridge Investment Management is a Hong Kong-based investment firm preparing to launch its first fund, a quantamental, long-biased US equities strategy, under an outsourced middle-and-back-office model. The firm is preparing its SFC Type 9 license application.
This is an operations role: you will support management across fund operations, finance and compliance records, together with general office administration. Most middle-and-back-office work is performed by our service providers; you will coordinate them, track every item to completion and confirm to management when it is done. The role reports to the Director. Review, approvals and regulatory responsibilities rest with management.
Responsibilities
• Fund and investor operations: follow up administrator and prime broker reconciliations and escalate breaks; maintain trade allocation and error records; track investor onboarding and KYC documents for management review; distribute investor reports and support due diligence questionnaires.
• Finance: collect and file monthly invoices, statements and bills; process invoices, payment requests and expense claims for approval; prepare the monthly pack for the accountant and run the bank-to-invoice reconciliation; handle accountant and auditor queries and audit request lists.
• Vendors: compare quotations for management's decision, support management's periodic reviews of service providers, and track payment due dates and contract renewals.
• HR and payroll: check outsourced payroll, MPF and IR56 outputs against HR records and flag discrepancies; administer onboarding, leave records and HR files.
• Compliance and corporate records: maintain compliance registers and staff declarations, CPT and license records and the regulatory calendar; arrange board meetings, circulate resolutions for signature and liaise with the company secretary.
• Office: supplies, couriers, building forms, travel and ad-hoc support; keep procedures current and use AI-assisted tools to automate routine work. Requirements
• 2 to 4 years in fund operations, fund administration, custody, middle or back office, Big Four or mid-tier audit, or company secretarial work. Office administration at a financial services firm with hands-on invoices, payments or reconciliations is also relevant.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, economics or business.
• Strong Excel skills and accuracy with numbers; proficient with Microsoft 365 and AI-assisted tools.
• Strong written and spoken English, with fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.
• Organised, discreet and reliable; takes ownership and follows tasks through in a small team.
• Curious and energetic, with a record of achievement at school or at work.
What we offer
Five-day week, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; MPF, medical insurance and annual leave per company policy; a Grade A office in Central; hands-on exposure to fund operations, finance and compliance from launch, with a path to lead the operations function as the firm grows. To apply Please send your CV, current and expected salary, and earliest practical start date to recruitment@starbridgeinvestment.com. You are welcome to include a short note of up to five lines on one piece of work you owned from start to finish and what the result was.
