At Bronn Photonics, we design and build a new technology for integrating III-V devices, including lasers and optical amplifiers, onto silicon photonics. This technology will optically power future interconnects in data centers. Excited to turn advanced photonic integration technology into a robust, repeatable manufacturing platform?
What you will do:
As a Process Development Engineer, you will play a key role in bringing this technology from R&D towards a product-ready platform. You will develop, execute and optimize semiconductor fabrication processes, with a strong focus on improving yield, repeatability and process robustness.
This is a hands-on role. You will be working directly on wafers and devices in our cleanrooms. You will work closely with our device designers and other process engineers, taking ownership of process development from the first experiments through to reliable and repeatable process flows.
You will be based in Ghent, Belgium.
Your
responsibilities:
- Develop, execute and optimize fabrication processes for III-V devices and their integration onto silicon photonics wafers.
- Work hands-on across lithography, etching, deposition, metallization, inspection and micro-transfer printing.
- Design and execute experiments (DoE), analyze results and implement improvements to process yield and repeatability.
- Investigate process failures, solve practical problems and collaborate with internal experts and technology partners. Who you are:
- You hold a master's degree in engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent through experience.
- You have hands-on experience in semiconductor processing, preferably in an R&D environment.
- You genuinely enjoy working in a cleanroom and are passionate about developing and stabilizing advanced technology processes.
- You work methodically, pay attention to detail and value accurate documentation.
- You take ownership and communicate openly about problems.
- You are comfortable working independently and as part of a small team in a dynamic R&D environment.
- You communicate fluently in English. The following experience is a plus:
- III-V device fabrication, particularly lasers or optical amplifiers.
- Silicon photonics, heterogeneous integration or micro-transfer printing.
- Working in an academic or shared-user cleanroom.
- Python for process data analysis, automation or equipment control.
What we offer
Join an early-stage photonics company developing a new approach to photonic chip integration. You will work in a small team, take real ownership of process development and see the direct impact of your work on bringing our technology towards product readiness. You get market-conform benefits and a stake in our success.
Location:
Ghent, Belgium — on-site position. Occasionally travel to our foundry partners and suppliers.
