For one of our clients, an international insurance company with a strong reputation in specialty lines, we are currently looking for an experienced Senior Underwriter – Financial Lines to strengthen its underwriting team in Brussels. This position offers the opportunity to manage a sophisticated portfolio of financial risks while developing long-term relationships with leading insurance brokers and corporate clients across Belgium and Luxembourg. Your Role As a Senior Financial Lines Underwriter , you will be responsible for underwriting and developing a portfolio focused on Directors' & Officers' Liability (D&O) and related Financial Lines products. You will combine technical underwriting expertise with commercial acumen, contributing to profitable portfolio growth while maintaining a disciplined risk selection approach. Working closely with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders, you will help shape underwriting strategy and represent the company in the Belgian insurance market. Your Responsibilities Underwriting & Risk Assessment
- Underwrite new and existing Directors' & Officers' Liability (D&O) risks for corporate clients across a wide range of industries.
- Assess complex financial, legal and corporate governance exposures to determine appropriate underwriting decisions.
- Structure tailored insurance solutions while ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Negotiate policy terms, conditions, deductibles and pricing with brokers. Portfolio Management
- Manage and develop a profitable Financial Lines portfolio.
- Continuously monitor portfolio performance, profitability and market developments.
- Identify emerging trends and recommend underwriting actions to optimize results.
- Participate in portfolio reviews and forecasting exercises. Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers and key business partners.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and generate new business.
- Represent the company during broker meetings, client presentations and industry events.
- Contribute to the development of new products and underwriting initiatives aligned with market needs. Collaboration & Expertise
- Work closely with Claims, Legal, Risk Engineering and Product teams.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex underwriting cases.
- Contribute to underwriting governance, peer reviews and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Stay informed about regulatory developments, corporate governance trends and market evolution affecting Financial Lines.

Your Profile

- Master's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Insurance or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience within Financial Lines, with strong exposure to Directors' & Officers' Liability (D&O) .
- Solid understanding of corporate liability risks, financial statements and corporate governance.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to build long-term broker relationships.
- Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating within an international underwriting environment.
- Fluent in French and/or Dutch , with a professional command of English . What You'll Find

- Gross monthly

salary:
€5,800 to €8,500 , depending on experience and underwriting expertise.
- Annual performance bonus , typically between 10% and 20% of annual salary.
