About The Role
As the Director of Policy, EMEA, you'll lead Deel's policy and government affairs strategy across the entire EMEA region, with primary focus on the UK and EU member states. This is a team of one. You'll work independently to influence policy at EU, UK, and national levels. You'll also be entrepreneurial about spotting strategic partnerships with government stakeholders—MOUs, public sector collaborations, and other opportunities that could create business impact. You'll position Deel as a thought leader on employment innovation, AI, immigration, and financial services. Responsibilities
- Lead policy and government affairs strategy across EMEA, focusing on employment innovation, AI, immigration, and financial services.
- Build and maintain deep relationships with policymakers and government officials at EU, UK, and member state levels.
- Engage in policy consultations and influence legislative and regulatory development. Draft consultation responses, position papers, and policy briefs for EU, UK, and member state processes.
- Monitor regulatory and geopolitical developments across EMEA that could impact Deel's operations. Flag risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
- Navigate the unique structures and decision-making processes of EU institutions, the UK government, and member state governments. Spot where Deel could be valuable to policy objectives.
- Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with government stakeholders across EMEA (MOUs, public sector collaborations, etc.). Work with Sales and business teams to evaluate and execute on these opportunities.
- Represent Deel in media, public forums, and industry events to position Deel as a thought leader on the future of work.
- Contribute to research, reports, and white papers that shape the policy conversation across the region.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Sales, Communications, and Product to align government relationships with business objectives. Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory strategy, preferably in technology, human resources, or financial services.
- Deep understanding of EMEA regulatory and political landscape, including EU institutions, UK government, and EU member states. You know how governments operate at each level and where influence happens.
- Proven ability to identify and advance policy campaigns and influence regulatory development across different jurisdictions.
- Entrepreneurial approach to opportunity spotting. You can see strategic partnerships that create value for Deel. You're opportunistic but measured.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior government officials.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking. You distill complex policy issues into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience working cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Sales, and Product.
