Orange Belgium (OBE) has historically outsourced the build and run activities of its mobile network to Ericsson under a managed services contract.

Many activities have shifted to the new operating entity following the creation of the joint venture. As part of this project, the residual activities still performed by Ericsson for OBE will also be transferred to the new operating entity.

This 10-month telecom IT project supports new build and run activities related to the microwave transmission and indoor radio access domains. It focuses on setting up the required IT capabilities correctly, including NMS (Network Management System) integration with fault management, configuration management, inventory, warehousing, and operational readiness.

Scope

  • Transmission domain: Integrate the microwave NMS with the existing platforms for fault, incident, and change management.

  • Inventory and configuration management: Integrate inventory and configuration management between TX360 (transmission inventory system at OBE) and the target inventory management platform.

  • Radio access indoor products: Integrate NMS for Solid’s DAS (active distributed antenna system), CommScope’s repeaters, Nextivity’s repeaters, and Nokia’s Smartnodes with the existing platforms for fault, incident, and change management.

  • Inventory and configuration management enablement: Enable inventory and configuration management via the target roadmap for repeater management systems and Smartnode management systems.

  • Remote access: Coordinate with Orange to enable user remote access to NMS systems hosted by Orange, as well as other systems such as TeocoAircom’s Connect.

  • Stakeholder coordination: Coordinate across Proximus, Orange Belgium, Ericsson, Nokia, GNOC, and the relevant IT development partners.

The project ultimately aims to:

  • Enable run activities, including fault, incident, and change management, operational handover, and spare parts management.

  • Enable build activities related to the transmission and indoor radio access domains.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver the scope described above within the foreseen timing an budget.

• Align with stakeholders on scope/timing/budget and keep them informed on a regular basis on project progress.

• Ensure IT security requirements are addressed and project activities comply with NIS2 obligations where applicable.

Requirements

• Relevant experience managing complex IT or telecom projects in multi-stakeholder environments.

• Ability to distinguish must-do requirements from nice-to-have items and drive pragmatic delivery decisions.

• Relevant knowledge of telecom operations, OSS/NMS, Change management, Fault management, and Configuration management.

• Basic knowledge of microwave, DAS, repeaters, femto-nodes, monitoring, and operational support.

• Understanding of ITIL concepts.

• Understanding of IT integration and IT security concepts (firewalls, VPN, encryption, SNMP, ...)

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in a setting with senior management stakeholders
