About the Role



The Commissioning Supervisor leads commissioning activities on site, ensuring that HVAC systems are tested, balanced, adjusted and verified per project specifications, industry standards and client requirements. They coordinate the commissioning team, manage workflows, support reporting, maintain high safety standards and act as the key onsite point of contact between Flowtech, clients, contractors and subcontractors.



Responsibilities


  • Supervise and coordinate commissioning activities of HVAC systems including air and hydronic Testing & Balancing (TAB), functional testing and verification against design intent and performance criteria.
  • Lead onsite commissioning teams, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, resolving issues and ensuring high work quality and consistency.
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans and procedures based on project specifications, standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA, ASHRAE) and client requirements.
  • Review and interpret HVAC drawings, specifications and control sequences to verify compliance and anticipate commissioning needs.
  • Track defects, deficiencies and system performance outcomes, driving corrective actions with contractors and reporting progress to project management.
  • Produce and review commissioning documentation including checklists, logs, reports, test sheets and certification records to the required quality level.
  • Maintain safety compliance on site, ensuring that commissioning activities follow company and statutory safety procedures.
  • Communicate with clients, design engineers, contractors and internal teams to coordinate commissioning work and ensure clear expectations and handover readiness.
  • Support commissioning management activities such as planning to resource needs, sequencing work and attending project coordination meetings.


Qualifications


  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in HVAC commissioning, Testing & Balancing or field technical supervision
  • Relevent mechanical services, HVAC or engineering qualification (desirable)
  • Recognised training or certification in HVAC commissioning, Testing & Balancing (TAB), or mechanical services.
  • Valid full UK/EU driver’s licence (for travel to multiple project locations).


Required Skills


  • Strong knowledge of mechanical services systems (ventilation, chilled/hot water), commissioning principles, test instrumentation and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and control logic.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills, with the ability to identify deficiencies and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, site-based environment with a strong focus on safety, quality and delivery.
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear technical reports.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and documentation tools.
  • High level of attention to detail.



Preferred Skills


  • Experience commissioning HVAC and mechanical services systems, particularly within complex or high-specification projects.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Testing & Balancing (TAB), functional testing and system verification.
  • Ability to interpret HVAC drawings, specifications, control sequences and design intent.
  • Familiarity with CIBSE, BSRIA and ASHRAE standards and commissioning best practices.
  • High level of attention to detail when producing and reviewing commissioning documentation, test sheets, reports and certification records.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, site-based environment with a strong focus on safety, quality and delivery.
  • Cleanroom or clinical HVAC commissioning experience would be advantageous.
