Duration: 12 months + extension
Location: Belgium - 8 days per month onsite
Start Date: ASAP
Role Overview
They’re looking for a Mainframe Storage Engineer to work within their z/OS environment.
The main focus is managing and supporting IBM DS8000 storage, working with GDPS for disaster recovery and backup, and looking after areas such as storage performance, capacity and incident resolution.
They need someone quite hands-on who can work closely with the wider mainframe team.
As a Mainframe Storage Engineer, you will play a key role in managing and optimising storage operations within the z/OS environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer IBM DS8000 storage systems and ensure high availability.
- Design and implement backup and recovery strategies using GDPS.
- Plan for future storage capacity and performance needs.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with security protocols.
- Collaborate with Mainframe and cross-functional IT teams.
Mandatory Technical Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with IBM DS8000.
- Proven expertise in GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex).
- Strong knowledge of z/OS storage architecture.
- Skills in capacity planning, performance tuning and incident resolution.
- Familiarity with storage security standards.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with migrating storage infrastructure.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as REXX or Python.
