We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a freelance opportunity based in Brussels, Belgium.
This position is ideal for an accounting professional with strong technical expertise who is comfortable working independently within a fast-paced, international finance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger accounting and daily financial operations.
- Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with Belgian GAAP and IFRS.
- Manage VAT declarations and ensure compliance with Belgian accounting regulations.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and journal entries.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Support accounting process improvements and ERP optimisation projects.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, ideally within an international organisation.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and Belgian VAT regulations.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end closing.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Fluency in English, alongside Dutch and/or French.
- Previous freelance or interim accounting experience is advantageous.
