imec is about to launch a spin-off that will disrupt the compute and memory industry with a game-changing new memory concept. We’re currently shaping this start-up in close collaboration with a lead investor. The assignment
For this high-profile, venture-backed start-up, we seek to complement our team with an entrepreneurial COO. The COO will act as a co-founder and will be involved in the shaping of the company before incorporation.As a co-founder, the COO will be responsible to identify the first target applications and market segments, articulating. the venture’s value proposition and competitive advantage in those target applications and segments.
The COO responsibilities also include the definition and management of the supply chain and operations to successfully develop, and mass produce the new memory products. He will also be responsible. This will involve:
Engage with the different stakeholders to validate the product specifications. Work closely with the founding team to identify the right manufacturing processes and partners. Engage with the identified partners and negotiate the associated manufacturing agreements. Own the operations KPI including quality, yield, delivery lead times, volume, and cost objectives. Identify the resources needed to grow the operations team and prepare the company for the next phases of its development. Lead this team for operational excellence.
Required knowledge and skills
For the COO candidate to be successful, we expect the candidate to have proven experience in leading semiconductors operations and an entrepreneurial spirit committed to building a game-changing deep-tech start-up. We’re looking for a driven professional with strong organizational and communication skills capable of federating the different stakeholders and driving the operations towards excellence.In particular,
You have a personal sense of integrity, excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a talent to design organizations. You can show a track record of negotiations at C-level. You have experience coordinating and leading cross-functional teams. You are a highly motivated self-starter, able to work under pressure as a member of a team. You can operate efficiently in highly dynamic environments and you’re available to travel, as necessary. You have an intimate knowledge of the semiconductor manufacturing eco-system and associated supply chains. You run the operations department in a fabless semiconductor company. You understand the semiconductor technological processes and you know how to transfer new technological modules to volume manufacturing. You have a solid understanding of the compute industry landscape and trends. You understand the key value drivers of end-users and can identify and articulate a differentiated value proposition for an emerging technology in that space. You are familiar with emerging memory concepts and the process to bring them to the market. You’re able to relate the performance of the memory to the performance of the system. Experience in a start-up is a strong advantage. You have been working with partners around the world; fluent in English, written and spoken. Knowledge of French and Dutch is an advantage.
