Legal and Tax Advisor

As Legal & Tax Counsel, you will provide general legal support (commercial law, consumer relations, competition law, market practices, GDPR, etc.) and be the central point of contact for all matters relating to European and Belgian taxation (VAT, excise duty, corporate income tax, etc.).
Your main responsibilities include:
- Analysing the impact of legislation, case law, and legal doctrine on the commerce and services sector and communicate about it;
- Answering questions from our Client's members on these topics;
- Representing members in contacts with stakeholders and ministerial cabinets;
- Working closely with management to develop a strategic vision for taxation in the commerce and services sector, which you will proactively advocate to cabinets;
- Contributing to the debate on strategic issues such as VAT in the digital age, greener taxation in the context of sustainable development, taxation of e-commerce and platforms, etc. ;
- Collecting relevant information and figures on taxation at regional, federal and European level and sometimes also at local level;
- Working with company tax specialists to prepare sectoral tax positions and coordinating thematic working groups;
- Working with the lobbying team on a wide range of tax issues;
- Developing a wide network with our Client's members and partners.
- You have a Belgian Master's degree in law;
- You have experience as a consultant, tax specialist, lawyer or in-house lawyer;
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written;
- You will be able to translate tax, commercial and contractual law matters into intelligible language and provide concrete and practical advice.
- You are analytical, practical and business-oriented;
- You are assertive, dynamic, convincing and enthusiastic;
- You are bilingual in French and Dutch and have sufficient knowledge of English;
- You have a sense of responsibility and initiative and enjoy working in a team;
- You have good organisational skills and can work independently;
- You are flexible and keen to learn.
