As Generalist Tax Specialist, you will be an essential player in the tax department of the retail company, providing wide-ranging support in tax-related matters and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations for the 3 entities. The position is based in Brussels.


A leading international retail store chain with a strong presence in Belgium. Known for offering a wide range of products and services, including fuel, food, beverages, and other retail items. They are around 14,000 employees worldwide.


As the main Tax Specialist, you will:

  • Oversee a wide range of tax compliance activities, including VAT, corporate tax, and transfer pricing.
  • Conduct tax analysis and identify potential tax optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including tax authorities and auditors.
  • Stay up-to-date on evolving tax laws and regulations
  • Reconcile IFRS vs BEGAAP taxation
  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT and Intrastat reports
  • Analyze tax documents and financial statements
  • Identify potential tax savings and opportunities
  • Develop fiscal reports and presentations for management or clients

A successful Generalist Tax Specialist should have:

  • Advanced degree in Tax Law or Finance
  • Proven experience in Belgian tax compliance (BIG4 + in-house position is a strong advantage)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge in SAP or Oracle
  • Real team player, able to bridge the collaboration with local team and business center teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch or French
