We are currently looking for a Country Controller Netherlands & Belgium to join us at our facility in Tiel or Mechelen.
The Country Controller of the Netherlands & Belgium is accountable for the delivery of all finance activities relative to the legal entities under his scope and is accountable for the quality and accuracy of the company's financial statements.
The Country Controller Netherlands & Belgium is the finance interface with Global & Regional Controllers, FP&A, and External Authorities (incl. External Auditors).
Main Responsibilities- Leading local Finance country organization. LE Controller(s) and local accountant(s) will report (indirectly) into this position.
- Ensure that the financial accounting and reporting of the legal entities is compliant with statutory and corporate policies:
- Compliance with Local and US Accounting Standards;
- Timely closing and reporting for both local and group accounts;
- Review of reconciliation process of all accounts;
- Overall compliance of international transactions (import, export, customs & duties, ...).
- Implement, maintain and improve accounting and reporting processes and act as a Finance partner for the (local) business teams.
- Represent the legal entities to external authorities and maintaining contacts with local banks, auditors and relevant state institutions.
- Main contact for internal, external & tax audits.
- Signing power by assuming the position of Managing Director from a Corporate perspective (POA), not from business leadership functionality.
- Responsible for assigned internal / SOX controls and acts as the steward of internal controls and governance in all other areas.
- Preparation & review of accounting entries (JEVs) and reconciliation of relevant accounts.
- Responsible for preparation of Tax Provision Process (GAM).
- Responsible for country relevant statistical returns and reports.
- Prepare & participate in shareholder/ Board of Directors meetings and resolutions related to statutory financial statements.
- Lead & participate in projects. This includes M&A projects.
- Minimal Bachelors' degree in Finance or Business Administration or CPA.
- Financial and Senior Accounting Experience. At least 6 years' experience in a similar position, preferably in a multinational environment.
- People management experience.
- Broad Accounting knowledge (US GAAP / FRS, local GAAP).
- Knowledge of country Legal, Tax and Regulatory Compliance processes.
- Able to build winning teams and championing change.
- Analytical mind-set.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and SAP.
- Fluent in Dutch and English. French is considered a plus.
