Head of AI H/F

Position Overview We are seeking a Head of AI to lead the development of our AI technologies and model architectures, driving the next phase of our crop genetic engineering platform. You will build and lead a small interdisciplinary team of computer scientists and bioinformaticians, while also working hands‑on to design and deploy proprietary AI models. Main Responsibilities Build, lead and manage a team of AI specialists, computer scientists and bioinformaticians to develop and deploy cutting‑edge AI models. Design AI architectures and models to drive our genome engineering technology. Oversee both research and practical deployment of proprietary AI models, working hands‑on alongside your team. Industrialize existing AI workstreams and expand AI‑driven applications across our genetic engineering platform. Collaborate with R&D teams to align AI technologies with broader genome editing and breeding goals. Represent the company at AI conferences, establishing the company as a leader in AI for plant genetics. Stay up to date on the latest AI technologies, frameworks and industry best practices, ensuring the team works at the forefront of AI innovation. Work with external partners, collaborators and stakeholders to advance the AI roadmap. Qualifications Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science or a related field. Proven experience in designing and building AI model architectures, with a strong background in machine learning, deep learning and neural networks. Industry experience (>5 years) leading engineering teams, with hands‑on expertise in both AI research and practical model deployment. Experience with large datasets and their integration into AI models. Knowledge of genetics and biology is beneficial; a strong interest in biology, particularly plant biology, is required. Leadership skills with the ability to manage interdisciplinary teams and projects, communicating clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
