Excentis is a telecom engineering company based in Ghent, operating worldwide. We provide tailored products and services to our clients, enabled by software development, R&D, testing, automation, and training. Our expertise lies in internet access networks (mainly over cable and fiber-optic networks) and home networking technologies such as Wi-Fi. Globally, we are recognized as experts in these fields. In fact, we have been selected as a certification lab for nearly all cable network standards—often as the only one in the world.

Our customers include telecom providers and manufacturers of broadband network equipment such as Intel, Broadcom, Cisco, Nokia, Samsung, Telenet, Orange, Vodafone, and Liberty Global. We test their equipment, provide expert advice, train their engineers through our courses, and deliver best-in-class testing and reporting solutions. Job Description

It’s no secret that we expect more and more from our internet, including ever-increasing speeds. Download speeds of over 10Gbps are already within reach. We support our customers in every possible way to introduce the latest technologies to end-users as quickly as possible, ensuring a seamless user experience. Many clients come to us early in their product development to receive guidance in analysis, troubleshooting, fine-tuning, and optimization.

After an intensive internal training program, your core tasks will include:

  • Performing tests on Wi-Fi, cable, and fiber-optic networks.
  • Developing, improving, and automating tests through scripting.
  • Analyzing and (where possible) resolving detected issues. A key aspect of this involves diving into technical specifications.
  • Producing high-quality reports.
  • Building and optimizing test setups in the lab.

You will work closely with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and refining your approach together.

Depending on your interests and team needs, you can grow into roles such as project leader, coach, trainer, consultant, or R&D engineer.

Profile

  • Ideally, you hold a Master’s or Professional Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Sciences, specializing in Electronics/ICT, or an equivalent qualification.
  • You have a strong interest in data communication and network technology. Basic knowledge of IP is a must.
  • Work experience is not required. We provide on-the-job training, and your team will guide you step by step.
  • You are highly adaptable. Every project and challenge is different—no two days are the same.
  • You thrive in a flat organization with minimal hierarchy. You enjoy taking ownership of tasks and projects, where your impact is significant.
  • You are not only a team player but also a problem solver, always striving for continuous improvement.
  • You are not afraid to ask questions and escalate issues within the team when needed.
  • You have an eye for quality, both in your own work and within the team.
  • You can work autonomously and approach tasks critically and precisely.
  • Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python) and related tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of automation platforms is a plus.
  • Affinity with Linux is an advantage.
  • You speak fluent English; basic Dutch is a welcome addition.
  • A valid driver’s license (Category B) is preferred.
