Executive Director – Europe

With offices in Brussels, Washington DC, Shanghai, New Delhi and a membership of 120 that covers more than 160 countries, the association has a truly global footprint, with European roots at the heart of the industry's services to its customers. For our office in Brussels, we are now recruiting an Executive Director for the Europe region.About the roleThe Executive Director - Europe will report directly to the Director General and will have the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):Regulatory/Government Affairs: Coordinate efforts amongst the membership to draft position papers, white papers and other relevant documents outlining the positions of the association; Lead the development and implementation of the advocacy strategy and tactics.Team Management: Lead and manage a team of three public affairs officers with their own portfolio.Operational support to the Director General: Prepare Global Board agendas, pre-read materials and draft the meeting minutes; The role involves direct contact with CEOs.Coordination: Act as the primary focal point for EU-level policy and public affairs, ensuring coherence between European advocacy priorities and the association's global strategy; Work closely with Regional Directors (Americas, India, China) to ensure alignment, information-sharing and consistency of positions across geographies.Committees and working groups: Lead and manage the work of sectorial committees, specifically the Product Testing & Certification Committee, and the associated working groups.Membership relations: Liaise with national associations and the membership to ensure continued engagement with and alignment to the work of the trade association.Representation and visibility: Identify and represent TIC Council Europe at relevant speaking engagements, in line with the responsibilities of the role; Represent TIC Council in organisations where it holds membership and in relevant European Commission expert groups (e.g. the Ecodesign Forum).ProfileA strong network within EU institutions is a significant asset.Proven experience in the EU trade association environment (minimum 6 years); Prior experience in working with EU institutions is an asset.Strong understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes.Knowledge of key EU digital, sustainability and product legislation.Demonstrated leadership experience, including team management.Ability to multitask and maintain a comprehensive, strategic overview of multiple policy files.Very good analytical skills and proven ability to synthesise feedback.Strong organisational and administrative skills.Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the association credibly at senior-level events and in public forums.Autonomous, result-oriented worker and enthusiastic team player.Professional fluency in English and either German or French, any other European language is an asset.Relevant university degree (Political Science, European Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Economics or a related discipline).We offerA full-time position with flexible working conditions (38h/week);A competitive salary package involving a pension scheme, lunch vouchers, transport allowance, representation allowance;The position will involve European and international travel.Start date: February 2026ApplicationsInterested candidates should send their application and cover letter to secretariat@tic-council.org by COB 9 January 2025.
