And now, to strengthen our Art department, based in Limelette, next to Wavre, we are seeking a highly organized and proactive Art Coordinator.

Job overview

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting the Director who manages our art collection.

Your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in maintaining and organizing the art collection including cataloguing artworks and writing texts, updating record in the software system (Webmuseo), and ensuring proper storage and care/restoration of the pieces under the supervision of the Director/Art Manager.
  • Take care of hanging artworks in the offices and corridors of our premises, as well as managing and maintaining them with the help of our BOCS- team Limelette.
  • Guide the tour of the collection when needed.
  • Preparing presentations, reports, and necessary documents to facilitate the overall working of the department.
  • Assist in creating the new catalogues and collaborate with an external agency in design.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to the art collection ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in coordinating events related to the art collection and travels with the Art Director to the different Lhoist offices in the Benelux/ England and Germany to organize exhibitions of the art collection.
  • Engage with our suppliers to negotiate and secure the most competitive pricing.

Interested? For this position you'll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • BA in Arts and self-taught or have equivalent experience.
  • Min. 5 years of experience working in the Contemporary Art Field.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Profound knowledge of IT and IA, art collection management software, Microsoft Office.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary art on an international scale, a deep understanding of art history, and exceptional writing skills.
  • Demonstrate positive, flexible approach, working collaboratively to deliver a professional support service.
  • Knowledge in conservation, maintenance and restoration of photographs, sculptures, drawings and paintings.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English, French and good knowledge of Dutch.
  • Professional discretion and ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize a diverse workload.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Discreet and well-balanced personality.
