The Senior Global Strategic Purchaser is responsible for the selection, set-up, and management of ADB Safegate suppliers in all aspects of the business relationship in order to further optimize the sourcing efficiency for her/his commodities according to ADB Safegate purchasing and company strategies and policies. In addition, the candidate is a key SAP user and supports the measurement of the KPI's for the entire Strategic team located in Zaventem.

Job Responsibilities

  • Market knowledge: Prospect and monitor the supplier base worldwide for the assigned commodities.
  • Supplier management: Monitor, audit and continuously improve quality and delivery performance of the assigned suppliers. If needed, propose corrective actions and ensure follow-up.
  • Contract negotiations: Introduce, negotiate, and manage supply contracts and blanket orders. Introduce and manage supplier development plans and specific cost reduction projects.
  • Master data: Apply and maintain supplier and procurement data within the company ERP system for the assigned commodities. Control and release purchase orders and supplier invoices.
  • Management of key procurement or strategic supply chain initiatives.
  • Contribute to purchasing synergy programs between the different ADB Safegate sites.
  • Maintain regular contact with internal/external interface partners to recognize developments and exert influence accordingly.
  • Quality management: Execute supplier selection audits and follow-up corrective actions at suppliers.
  • First point of contact for strategic purchasing issues and advice.
  • SAP Key user for the purchasing-related modules.
  • Document purchasing processes, decisions, and contractual arrangements.
  • Coordinate training of new Strategic Purchasers.
  • Propose continuous improvements related to KPI's and processes.
  • ISO certification: Support processes and P.O.C during internal audits.
  • KPI and costing support to SCM.

Required Skills

  • Best practices in strategic purchasing (RFI, RFQ, benchmarking, supplier evaluation and development, contract definition, price negotiations…)
  • Good knowledge of logistic processes (VMI, cost of inventory, consignment, 2-bin, incoterms…)
  • Good knowledge in business administration (product costing, production KPI, legal)
  • Basic knowledge in assigned commodity technologies and markets.
  • Technical: Able to read and interpret a technical drawing, with basic knowledge of industrial production and transformation processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability of critical solutions within the supply chain.
  • Perform complex duties and exercise judgment for decisions and problem solving.
  • Technical Master or Bachelor with commercial affinity or Masters in Economics with a technical affinity.
  • ERP systems, SAP is a plus.
  • Quality monitoring systems, Q-Pulse is an asset.
  • Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Required Experience

  • 5-10 years' experience in a purchasing role.
  • Successful experience in project management and/or contract negotiations.
  • Successful experience within contract negotiations, advanced experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and conduct cost/benefit analysis to identify potential areas of improvement.
  • Intercultural experience, preferably with international (Asian and/or East European) vendors.
