**OVER DE UGENT**

Je zult aangesteld worden binnen het "AlUla Inscriptions Corpus Analysis Project (AICAP)." Dit is een vier-jarige samenwerking tussen de UGent en de Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU). Het project zal een online toegankelijke, langdurig beschikbare database ontwikkelen om de inscripties toegankelijk te maken die de RCU documenteerde in de AlUla vallei, in Saudi Arabië. Deze inscripties omvatten teksten van de 6e eeuw v.Chr. tot moderne Arabische graffiti.
Het doel van het project is om de duizenden inscripties die de RCU documenteerde te digitaliseren en te analyseren om zo een beter inzicht te krijgen in de rijke, interculturele geschiedenis van AlUla via de inscripties die de historische bewoners en bezoekers van de oase achterlieten. Daarnaast zal het project belangrijk nieuw licht werpen op de geschiedenis van de vele talen die in het landschap geschreven staan. Het project zal ook bijdragen aan kennis ontwikkeling en een publiek outreach programma in AlUla omvatten.
**JOUW OPDRACHT**
Outreach en educatie vormen een belangrijk onderdeel van het AICAP project. Jouw rol binnen het project zal zijn om verschillende groepen inwoners van de AlUla regio te betrekken bij het lokale cultureel erfgoed in de vorm van rots inscripties. Je zult hierin bijgestaan worden door MA-studenten die verbonden zijn aan het project.
- Je zult verantwoordelijk zijn voor het ontwikkelen, en uitvoeren van een interactief lesplan voor basisschool leerlingen in Saoedi Arabië,
- Je zult MA-studenten begeleiden in het geven van de lessen die ontwikkeld worden voor Saoedische basisscholen,
- Je zult in samenwerking met de onderzoekers op het project informatie pakketten en verhaallijnen ontwikkelen voor lokale gidsen (_rawi_'s),
**JOUW PROFIEL**
- Je hebt een diploma van Master of doctor op proefschrift in pedagogiek, of met een specialisme in vergelijkbare richting,
- Je hebt bij voorkeur enige ervaring met, of kennis van de geschiedenis en archeologie van het Midden Oosten,
- Je Engels is voldoende voor effectieve communicatie, zowel in spraak als geschrift,
- Beheersing van gesproken Arabisch wordt zeer op prijs gesteld,
- Je bent bereid en in staat om tijd door te brengen in Saudi Arabië voor de implementatie van het onderwijs en outreach plan.
**ONS AANBOD**
- Wij bieden je een contract van bepaalde tijd voor een periode van maximaal 6 maanden.
- De indiensttreding kan ten vroegste vanaf 1/07/2024.
