What will you be doing?:
Quick profit without further considerations is no longer the holy grail of economic growth and prosperity.

Companies have a responsibility to create value with and for all stakeholders, while also dealing with global challenges such as climate change, raw material depletion, increasing inequality and more.

BDO aims to be a lever in this sustainability transition by providing our clients with guidance and tools - in the broadest sense - and by making practical contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This is where you come in as our Sustainability Advisor

As part of a growing Sustainability Center of Excellence, you will have a chance to contribute to the further expansion of our Sustainability services and to help organisations transition to more sustainable policies and reporting.

What exactly will your duties involve?

As a Sustainability Advisor, you support clients with their sustainability transitions, adapted to their level of ambition, company context and maturity

Contributing to our Center of Excellence's strategic development and establishment

  • Translation of concepts and legislation into specific goals and implementations
  • Further development and optimisation of sustainability value propositions and relevant partnerships
  • Establishment of client portfolio
  • Supervising team members based on your experience
More specifically, you will use your expertise to advise companies on:

  • Defining a sustainability strategy, taking into account their maturity level based on benchmarking and risk analysis, and rolling out a sustainability programme (see "Sustainability Transition" insert)
  • Setting up reporting processes to comply with increasingly complex current and future regulations. For example, the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requires mandatory disclosure of nonfinancial information, such as the carbon footprint (see "Non-Financial Reporting" insert);
  • Integrating ESG into risk and return analyses in the context of value creation through mergers and acquisitions.

You will also collaborate closely with colleagues from various Business Practices in order to create a real impact for our clients.

You persuade clients of your strategy thanks to your pragmatic, driven approach.

Depending on your preferences and experience, you can specialise in various areas such as Project Management, Non-Financial Reporting, Non-Financial Assurance or ESG Due Diligence.


What do you bring to the table?:

  • You are driven to accelerate the transition to sustainable business operations and want to contribute to sustainability in a broader sense; through advisory, non-financial reporting and assurance activities.
  • You have extensive work experience relating to project management and/or sustainability projects (advisory reporting, advisory). Technical knowhow is an asset.
  • You can conceptualise strategies and also take the lead in projects' operational implementation.
  • You are customeroriented.
  • You are communicative, flexible and resultsoriented and aware of the added value of working in and reinforcing a team in order to achieve maximum results.
  • You speak fluent Dutch and English; French is an asset.
