R&D Manager Bakery

For our Headquarters in Groot-Bijgaarden, we are seeking an innovative individual for the role of R&D Manager Bakery within the Improvers & Mixes business unit. If you are enthusiastic about driving product development activities and implementing them, as well as contributing to the optimization of products, processes, and services, then this opportunity might be the perfect fit for you.

Key Accountabilities

Applied R&D

  • You will define and accelerate the implementation of Puratos improvers and grains solutions by mastering customer processes.
  • You will initiate, develop, and maintain relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • You will explore, select, and implement new processing technologies.
  • You will ensure knowledge building and document technical and scientific expertise in the field.
  • You will train, transfer knowledge, and facilitate exchange among relevant stakeholders.

Quality & Operations

  • You will lead the new product handover to Operations.
  • You will be responsible for material creation, from R&D stage to production introduction.
  • You will ensure documentation compliance in alignment with BRC certification.
  • You will collaborate with Operations to address challenges and opportunities and provide support by sharing expertise.
  • You will take charge of new/alternative raw materials validation within the business unit in collaboration with the purchasing department.

Support to countries and business development

  • You will collaborate with the Product Manager to devise and execute the category strategy for business growth.
  • You will optimize the product range for performance and cost efficiency.
  • You will support the implementation of strategic, international, and local innovation and renovation projects.
  • You will train local business development and R&D teams on products and technologies.
  • You will actively engage with the business development team, supporting customer visits and understanding their needs, with up to 20% travel time.
  • You will monitor designated Countries/Large Accounts by providing technical support, reviewing strategies, and visiting them to track projects.

Who are we looking for?

  • You hold a degree in food technology or food science or have equivalent experience.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the food or bakery industry.
  • You are hands-on and eager to learn about bakery products.
  • You possess strong communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • You are autonomous in project management, with a proactive approach.
  • You value teamwork and have a down-to-earth attitude.
