Required Security Clearance: NATO SECRETDuties and Role:As the Chief Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting, developing, and managing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and related systems. Your responsibilities cover the entire lifecycle, including service operation, and project support. Key aspects of the role include:
  • Daily Operations and Maintenance: Ensuring seamless operation and maintenance of NISC IaaS Services regardless of hosting location.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Prompt identification and resolution of issues.
  • Change Management and Documentation: Diligent adherence to change management processes and documentation updates.
  • Strategic Support and Coordination: Providing advice and support to key stakeholders throughout the capability lifecycle.
  • SLA Compliance and Process Development: Monitoring SLA compliance and contributing to process development.
  • Reporting and Communication: Preparing reports and briefings for senior management.
  • Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Undertaking additional tasks related to the business area's responsibilities.
  • Availability and Flexibility: Being available during scheduled maintenances and on-call after hours if necessary.
  • Travel and Deployment: Ready to travel and work at various locations as required.
Specific Working Conditions: Main Duty Location is SHAPE/Mons with the possibility of travel to other NATO locationsRequirementsSkill, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Active NATO SECRET security clearance
  • Relevant vocational training with post-related experience or secondary educational qualification with experience
  • Virtualization Skills (IaaS): Hands-on experience in managing IaaS, VMware, and storage devices
  • Guest Operating System Competence: Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Containerization: Knowledge of containerization solutions such as OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Cloud Operations and Management: Experience in private and public cloud environments
  • Infrastructure as Code: Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform coding, and automation
  • Effective team player with IT support skills
  • Documentation proficiency and SOP development
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to respond to incidents
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Industry certifications in virtualization, Linux, cloud, and containerization
  • Prior experience in service provisioning
  • Understanding of NATO responsibilities and structure
