Job Purpose:
The Head of Lab Equipment, Supplies, and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) will translate the R&D strategy into execution, by managing laboratory operations related activities and allowing scientists to focus on science to drive the advancement of the Vaccines R&D portfolio.
This position is responsible for the implementation of the organizational transition of lab operations from Quality Control (QC) Belgium into Vaccines R&D Laboratory Operations, ensuring the organization design is optimized to ensure effective and efficient support to the scientific operations of the global Vaccines R&D organization.
The new Lab Equipment, Supplies, and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) organization will ensure that labs are operating efficiently and reliably with an eye to continuous improvement further maximizing scientific productivity.
Lab equipment, supplies and access to external scientific/technology expertise are critical for R&D activities, enabling Scientists to conduct experiments & analyze data and drive the GSK's pipeline.
This position ensures that the above components are available to Scientists when and where needed, meeting GSK's quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
The Head of Lab Equipment, Supplies, and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) oversees a scientific Lab Operations team that ensures Vaccines R&D Scientists have the lab equipment and supplies needed to execute on the R&D project portfolio with accountability for:
End-to-end equipment lifecycle management of Vaccines R&D lab equipment in Belgium- Lab Equipment lifecycle management services (for all 'equipment workstreams' on Vaccines R&D related projects, both SMR and PIPs) including commissioning, validation, moves, decommissioning, and disposal
- Lab Instrument Operations including preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs
Europe Lab supply & logistics
- Warehouse lab provisioning, & supply, and inventory management
- Material & Media Preparation
Global Contract Management & Procure-to
Pay Responsible for his/her team being the point of contact for business owners within Vx R&D Labs Operations on contract/P2P matters and being at the interface with external (third parties) and internal stakeholders (Business Development, Finance, Legal, Procurement, etc.) Partners with Business Development, External R&D, and Business Owners (Vx R&D scientists) on 3rd party contracts related to Scientific Collaborations supporting third party oversight (TPO) activities related to due diligence, ABAC, vendor oversight as well as contract execution Vendor master maintenance, shopping cart/purchase requisition, purchase order, and invoice support including liaising with Procurement and Finance to resolve P2P issues Responsible for efficient and effective operations related to R&D contract management from initial request to contract archiving and purchase order, ensuring the necessary inprocess controls have been met before processing an agreement. This includes ensuring the corporate Third-Party Oversight Corporate risk management program (TPO), the Governance of Legal Agreements (GOLA) and the Buying Good and Services Policy (BG&S) are implemented and controlled. Responsible to maintain the register of thirdparty contracts. Ensure GSK compliance to contractual terms, including delivery and payment terms and liaise with P2P and global supporting functions to ensure such terms are fulfilled, GSK contractual obligations are respected, including ontime payment of invoices

Performance Management and KPIs
- Define, implement, and monitor Lab Equipment LCM, Supply & Logistics, and ProcuretoPay KPIs to drive process efficiency and reliability
Vendor Oversight
- Executive oversight of Functional Service Providers (FSPs) / lab service providers to ensure high quality service to GSK
Continuous Improvement
- Accountable for continuous improvement, simplification and alignment on the processes related to Lab Equipment LCM, Supply & Logistics, and ProcuretoPay. Proactively drive a mindset of continuous improvement of processes and value creation without compromising compliance, quality, or customer service
