VAT Accountant for a permanent position based in Brussels.
Our client is a fast growing company active in the
chemical sector**.
As
VAT Accountant you will be
responsible for:
- Ensure that VAT and Intrastate reports are managed in compliance with European VAT legislations;
- Work in deep collaboration with ERP Team, the VAT Champions from each BU and Meridian administrator to adapt the VAT engine for new requirements : internal or external;
- Ensure that all VAT reporting are produced accurately and in due time;
- Ensure reconciliations of accounts with VAT returns;
- Collaborate with the Group VAT Team to implement new strategy : Triangulation, Cashflow improvement, new commercial and specific sales agreements;
- Support the Account Coordinators and Account Managers from each business;
- Liaise with Belgian and Foreign VAT authorities;
- Defend VAT files during audits;
- Insure good understanding of transactions flow;
- Reduce exposures for businesses : avoid potential risks of penalties and fines;
- Follow the evolution of VAT and Customs Legislations in Belgium and Abroad;
- Write and maintain clear procedures;
- Train and assist the different accounting sites in Belgium and abroad (Köln,London, Bamble, Lavera.);
- Assist Norway team with their VAT returns;
- Liaise with Customs & Excises Authorities in Belgium;
- Coordinate customs matters with Belgian sites;
- Fill out all the formalities and audit reports to open and maintain new Customs warehouse (Vopak, OTG,);
- Work in deep collaboration with Business and Authorities in Belgium and abroad to reduce the outstanding eAD's and minimize exposures of excises for Enterprises/Solvents and Oligomers, O&P and any other business the team would have to support;
- Meet and discuss with Customs officers in order to find the right solution to implement new process and satisfy businesses;
- Implement new systems : PLDA, ECMS, REX ;
- Train and support supply chain teams on sites with clear documentation.
The required
profile for the
VAT Accountant position:
- High degree in accounting, specialized in Indirect Taxes, with minimum 4 years of experience in international environment;
- Very good knowledge of VAT at international level, Customs & Excises;
- Fluent in English, French or Dutch;
- SAP FI, SD, MM;
- Team player;
- Respect of confidentiality;
- Good communication skills;
- Be persuasive;
- Able to work under pressure to achieve objectives.
