POLITICO is seeking a talented editor to lead our coverage of sustainability in Brussels.


With the Green Deal Commission coming to an end and a growing backlash against environmental policies, this editor will be responsible for delivering engaging stories from a team of expert reporters.


The role is a busy, hands-on editing job running one of POLITICO's subscription products for a specialist audience, as well as bringing sustainability stories to life for a wider audience.

This editor will work closely with senior editors and the newsroom leadership team to grow our sustainability coverage.


The role would suit a journalist who enjoys developing teams, setting the news agenda and working fast and flexibly within a growing newsroom.


What You'll Do:

  • Set the direction for POLITICO's sustainability coverage
  • Edit copy for POLITICO Pro subscribers and our freetoread website
  • Manage a team of three reporters
  • Generate distinctive and innovative ways to tell stories
  • Feed into discussions about how to grow POLITICO's audience, reach and impact

What You'll Need:

  • Demonstrable interest in sustainability policy
  • Experience of line editing and strong track record in news journalism
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Strong attention to detail and confident digging into policy coverage in depth
  • Comfortable working at speed and developing longerterm projects
  • Confident representing POLITICO at live events or on broadcast
