The European Free Alliance (EFA) works to make the idea of a "Europe of the Peoples" a political and

cultural reality at the European and international level.


It is an umbrella organisation of 43 civic nationalist, regionalist, and autonomist parties throughout the European Union (EU), representing stateless nations, emerging new States, regions and traditional minorities in Europe.

It focuses its activity on the promotion of the right of self-determination of peoples, human, civil and political rights, democracy, internal enlargement, multi-level governance, devolution of powers, cultural and linguistic diversity, as well as on civic nationalism, regionalism, autonomy and independence.

The right to self-determination is a cornerstone of the EFA's program and ideology.

EFA is a European Political Party recognized by the European Parliament since 2004. It is duly registered as non-governmental organisation (asbl/vzw) under Belgian law and as EUPP under the European Parliament.

About the job offer
EFA is seeking to hire an Administration and Accounting Officer for its office in Brussels. This is a full-time position for five working days (38 hours) per week.

The contract starts in February 2023.

The duties of the EFA Administration and Accounting Officer include:

  • Keeping budget accounts
  • Using specific IT tools (such as the integrated system of accounts) to implement accounting and financial systems
  • Drawing up budget estimates and annual reports / accounts and financial statements
  • Assist in designing, drawing up and implementing Financial Regulation procedures
  • Assist in planning and managing public procurement and tender procedures
  • Carrying out financial and operational management of contracts
  • Participating in bank reconciliation, processing invoices, payments and recovery orders (credit notes)
  • Assist in payroll and salary benefits calculation
  • Supporting the preparation of the audit files for external auditors in connection to the annual accounts
  • Liaise with the Directorate General for Finances of the European Parliament to follow up, implement and influence decisions on financial regulations of EUPPs
  • Support the smooth running of the office by ordering and maintaining supplies
  • Various office administrative tasks, such as assisting in managing database entries, greeting visitors, setting up conference room, a.o.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential Criteria

  • Good knowledge and proven professional experience in the EU accounting environment and preparing annual accounts.
  • Good knowledge of the EUPPs Financial Regulation and EP/EU accounting rules and instructions.
  • Very good command of written and spoken English and good command of at least one of the following working languages: French, Dutch, German, Italian or Spanish.
  • Good command of Exact Online as an accounting software (or similar software).
  • Occasional travel is required (23 times/year).

Advantageous Criteria

  • Proven professional experience of Accrual Based Accounting (ABAC).
  • Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Belgian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (BE GAAP).
