As Manager Team Expertise Protection & Automation, you and your team build up expertise in the management and implementation of new assets and processes. Acquiring the necessary technical expertise in the subject matter is a necessary condition for the position.
The duties of this role mainly include:
- Gaining a good knowledge of the Secondary Systems domain, and more specifically of the "Protection & Automation" sub-domain.
- Gathering new knowledge on new technologies/applications that will be implemented within Elia.
- Active knowledge of the market in your technical sector and of the other TSOs (transmission system operators).
- Being hierarchically responsible for +/-10 employees. Supporting the employees in order to always have the necessary competent and motivated staff to achieve the team's objectives and provide them with optimal development opportunities.
- Supporting and advising the project teams and other services within Elia (transversal).
- The development of technical requirements for the secondary part of a high-voltage substation based on concept notes, participation in multidisciplinary teams for analysis of bids and contract awarding.
- The management of framework agreements, including the processes between Elia and suppliers, and the reception tests of the equipment.
- Drawing up technical standards and solutions based on concept notes and guidelines for the application in Elia investment projects.
- The development and provision of technical training courses for the operational entities.
- Participation in internal working groups as an expert and representative of Elia.

- You are a civil or industrial engineer.
- Preferably 10 years of experience, of which 5 years as an Expert in managing the new or existing assets.
- You preferably already have experience in managing a team.
- You have a strong affinity for electrical engineering and are prepared to develop and promote technical expertise further.
- You look for pragmatic solutions and you are customer- and results-oriented.
- You do not shy away from being active in the field when performing your tasks in cooperation with the operational entities.
- You are able to work proficiently in a team, are communicative and have strong powers of persuasion.
- You possess strong analytical and synthesising skills so that you can clearly convey complex subject matter (both verbally and in writing).
- You manage the pre-agreed range of tasks independently and proactively.
- You can report on the results of your activities in a clear and structured manner and easily give a presentation on those results
- You can express yourself both verbally and in writing in Dutch, French and English.
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office would be a plus.
