YOUR TASKS

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
  • Your main tasks will be to gather the necessary data and information on the agrifood (residual) biomass characteristics and volumes, on biomass prerequisites for logistics to support the building of the decisionsupport models. This will mainly be done via desktop research, database analysis and cocreation sessions. You will also be involved in the coordination of the project, and the direct communication with the research partners and the different stakeholders.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a thesisbased doctorate (obtained max. 6 years ago. This term of 6 years is determined by the date written on the abovementioned required diploma) in bioscience engineering, chemical engineering, business engineering, logistics, or equivalent.
  • Your profile matches the scientific requirements and personal profile.
  • Scientific knowledge and skills_
  • Hands on experience with data collection and processing. The ability to construct and manage databases is recommended.
  • Ability to perform indepth and critical data analysis.
  • Experience with systems modelling (e.g. processes, supply chain operations, linear programming, datadriven models, etc.)
  • Experience with different software tools (MSoffice, GISsoftware, R, Python,) especially related to database building and data processing
  • Ability to communicate through highquality scientific channels, e.g. WoS publications (A1).
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the agrifood sector in Flanders, and their biomass is not essential but appreciated.
  • Personal knowledge and skills_
  • Passionate about collaborative research and like to contribute in a multidisciplinary research environment in close interaction with different stakeholders
  • Proactive attitude and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members from different backgrounds and in different research areas.
  • Capacity to mentor/lead/supervise small groups of PhD students and/or master thesis students.
  • Excellent skills in time management and the ability to meet objectives within strictly set deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English are strictly required. Dutch is not essential but will be considered an additional asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently.
  • Outcomefocused, handson mentality.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a contract of indefinite duration with a maximum term of 3 years
  • Your contract will start on 1/05/2024 at the earliest.
