YOUR TASKS
As a postdoctoral researcher your role will be multifaceted:

Research contribution:
- Engage in two or more innovative research projects running at STEN across diverse areas such as biobased industries, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, electric vehicles and batteries, valorization of side streams, and carbon capture and utilization technologies. Selection of these projects happens in collaboration with prof. Jo Dewulf.
Organizational and managerial involvement:
- Assist in project management and coordination, ensuring project objectives are met efficiently.
- Mentor PhD students and work collaboratively with other postdoctoral researchers, enhancing the group's research capabilities.
- Participate in the planning of future research projects within the STEN group.
Academic engagement and knowledge dissemination:
- Contribute to teaching activities and develop courses in life cycle sustainability assessment.
- Publish and present findings in highimpact journals and international conferences, establishing a strong professional presence.
Professional development and funding opportunities:
- Pursue continuous learning in sustainability assessment methods and tools.
- Seek new funding opportunities to expand the group's collaborations in new EU and regional projects, playing a key role in the growth and diversification of the group's research portfolio.
- Seek for a longterm involvement in cuttingedge research.
- Gain experience in a multidisciplinary setting, enhancing your collaborative and leadership skills.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Other profile requirements:
- You hold a PhD in an environmental/chemical/bioscience engineering related field, or similar;
- You have an interest in scientific research;
- You can operate both independently and in a multidisciplinary team;
- You have organisational/managerial skills and are highly motivated;
- You have good writing and presentation skills;
- You master the English language, written and orally, in an academic context;
- Having experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research is essential;
- You have expertise with LCA software such as openLCA, Gabi, SimaPro, UMBERTO, etc. and LCA databases (e.g. ecoinvent, PSILCA, HSDB).
- Having expertise in other sustainability assessment methods such as social life cycle assessment (S-LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC) is a plus.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 2 years.
- Your contract will start on 1/02/2024 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
