You have a master's degree in Engineering Technology Electromechanics. You have experience in applied research and preferably in the world of logistics. Possessing international research experience, teaching experience or industrial work experience is an asset.You have organizational skills and a collegial attitude. You also possess pronounced leadership skills that can be valorized in a university context.A good knowledge of English is a requirement. The language of administration and education at KU Leuven is Dutch. You must therefore be proficient in all aspects of Dutch. Teaching duties are for 50% part of your duties and are negotiable between you. You will provide high quality teaching within the field of mechanics and control of drive systems, more specifically on servomotors and process control, with a clear commitment to the quality and profile of the program as a whole. You will also contribute to the pedagogical project of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering by supervising some undergraduate projects and master's theses. The teaching activities take place mainly within the programs of the Faculty at the Rabot campus in Ghent.You will develop your teaching in accordance with KU Leuven's vision of activating and research-based teaching and take advantage of the opportunities for educational professionalization offered by the Faculty and the University.You will be expected to build and lead research in the field of robotics, specifically around integrating a Cartesian and rotary robot. In addition, you will support and build on the existing national and international collaborations of the MeSA research group.At KU Leuven, Group Science & Technology, Faculty of Engineering Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering, campus Rabot in Ghent, there is a full-time vacancy for an assistant in the domain “Automation and Mechatronics”.We are looking for candidates with research experience and with knowledge in mechanical design, mechatronics and electrical drive systems.The research takes place at campus Rabot in Ghent, at the research group RAM (Robots, Automation and Mechatronics). Due to the local intense cooperation of the research groups connected to the departments of Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, you can count on a solid research infrastructure, an extensive international network, connections with companies and non-profit organizations, a stable and supportive working environment with talented PhD students.Teaching takes place on the same campus and is primarily aimed at students of the Faculty of Engineering Technology. Your assignment consists of an integration of 2 types of activities: research and teaching.We offer full-time employment in an intellectually challenging environment as an Assistant (Barema 43) for 2 years, with the possibility of extension (maximum 6 years in total). KU Leuven is a research-intensive, internationally oriented university conducting both fundamental and applied scientific research. It has a strong inter- and multidisciplinary focus and strives for international excellence. To this end, it actively cooperates with its research partners at home and abroad.
