We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to support a major digital transformation initiative within one of Belgium’s most prominent banking institutions.
Freelance Senior Java Developer
Duration: 12-month rolling contract (extensions expected)
Languages: English (Dutch or French is a plus)
Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java (Spring Framework)
Translate functional requirements into clean, high-quality, maintainable code
Evolve and migrate legacy systems into modern Java-based platforms
Drive performance, reliability, and security through unit testing , code reviews, and refactoring
Participate in CI/CD pipelines and help shape DevOps best practices
Contribute to a culture of clean code, pair programming, and continuous improvement
4+ years of professional experience in Java backend development
~ Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming , SOLID principles , and domain-driven design
~ Proactive communicator who enjoys collaborative problem-solving in Agile teams
~ Strong sense of ownership and eagerness to contribute to team success
Knowledge of containerization , cloud deployments , or large-scale integrations
