As our **R&D Manager Chocolate**, its your mission to lead the R&D activity of Belcolade Through business development and operational projects, you lead the local R&D team and implement the R&D strategy and objectives in line with the BU Real Chocolate strategy and the site priorities.

**Key Accountabilities**

You focus on all our Belcolade branded products produced at Belcolade and Groot-Bijgaarden.
- **You manage and support business development activities linked to Belcolade (40%)**:

- Assure a customer oriented Belcolade R&D organization
- Lead product development and improvement projects, for customers and products for the general market (innovation)
- Support customer visits, at the customer and at Belcolade, for business development, protection of business at risk and for technical support
- **You manage and support operational projects linked to Belcolade production (30%)**:

- Support feasibility studies, implementation of new processes and the launch of new production lines
- Support on processing improvement, cost reduction, raw materials screening and selection
- Stimulate good collaboration between the Belcolade R&D team and other departments from the Belcolade site, key accounts, customers and suppliers
- **You lead the Belcolade R&D team (20%)**:

- Coach the Belcolade R&D team
- Define the objectives of the team members, taking into account BU Real Chocolate strategy and the site priorities
- Follow up the results and achievements, coach and advice where needed
- Develop the team’s competences: identify development area’s and assure the resources to complete these area’s
- Define and follow-up Belcolade R&D KPI’s and assure IP protection
- **Competence building and training (10%)**:

- Manage projects on real chocolate with research institutions, universities and suppliers and facilitate the implementation at Belcolade
- Legislation and food quality real chocolate: follow-up with the regulatory and quality department and assure Belcolade products formulation compliance
- Ensure registration of knowledge and assure communication within the Chocolate R&D Community
- Participate in the organization of trainings for R&D and business development teams

**Who are we looking for?**
- You have a master degree with at least 5 years of formulation experience and/or other related field.
- You have a proven track record in formulation, production and/or QC - QA of food products (formulation, equipment, production parameters) is a plus
- You have experience with people management and coaching skills
- Languages: fluent Dutch (written and spoken); excellent English (written and spoken). Any other language is a plus.
- Good knowledge in ICT
- You are willing to travel outside Belgium (10%)
