You are responsible for creating and enforcing a culture of safety within our organisation. You make sure the company complies with all relevant legal rules and regulations. You ensure safety standards and company policy regarding the health and safety of the personnel.
**What you do**:
- Develop the annual safety action plan, as well as the five-year plan, agreed with the Operations manager.
- Educate and oversee employees on health and safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform prevention plan with sub-contractors.
- Encourage and promote safety behavior and the use of safer work equipment, materials and supplies.
- Carry out and regularly update all the risk assessments of the plant workstations.
- Analyze the risks (determine the appropriate measures according to the dangers).
- Create, update, assess and audit safety procedures, considering legal safety requirements.
- Improve the well-being of workers.
- Control workplace hygiene.
- Participate to Comité de Protection et Prévention du Travail: preparation of the meetings, report the safety activities and the actions, issue the annual report, and follow-up of corrective actions.
- Measure and analyze the plant safety performance and communicate the results to Management.
- Lead the investigation after any incident, accident or near miss and report in the Incident report database.
- Verify and improve the working environment by inspecting the equipment and the installation regarding safety & housekeeping, measurements of noise, dust, and air quality.
- Assist department heads in their safety meetings. Advise management on worker training.
- Act as a safety technical improvement project leader
- Work with the hierarchy on safety-related issues.
- As member of the plant safety team, participate actively in the Daily meeting.
- Issue annual report for the Belgian authorities and other relevant organizations
**Who you are**:
- Bachelor with proven experience with the function
- Technical background is a plus
- Trained as “Conseiller en prévention” at least level 2
- Few years experience in a similar job in Safety
- Experience in the industry is a plus (metal production, quality, environment, project, engineering/maintenance)
- Languages: French & English (B2)
