**YOUR TASKS**
As a postdoctoral researcher you will be responsible for the development, optimization and validation of a method for high-precision Nd isotopic analysis of "critical raw materials" based on the use of multi-collector ICP mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) in the framework of the Horizon Europe project MaDiTraCe. The method development involves both chromatographic isolation of the analyte element and the measurement protocol. Subsequently, the method developed will be applied to relevant real-life materials. Multi-element analysis with ICP mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and carrying through isotopic analysis of other elements based on a described protocol will also be part of the assignment. Finally, the assignment also includes a contribution to the administrative and logístical aspects related to the participation in the MaDiTraCe project and to internal and external reporting of the results obtained.
**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
- You hold thesis-based doctorate (PhD) preferably in the fields of (analytical) chemistry, geochemistry or geology.
- You have experience with isotopic analysis via multi-collector ICP mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) or thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) and the corresponding sample preparation.
- You can express yourself fluently orally and in writing in English.
- You are interested in the applied scientific research described and are prepared to report on this in writing (including articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals) and orally (including lectures at conferences).
- You work in a systematic and orderly manner, also with regard to the administrative aspects of the project.
**WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU**
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for a period of 2 years
- Your contract will start on 1/04/2023 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
