Our Optimisation department is a young and dynamic team, eager to respond to market changes and ready for the future, wherein people are encouraged to be curious and innovative in a positive atmosphere. The department is responsible for managing our gas and electricity portfolio and maximizing the value of our assets in the market.
The Portfolio Structuring team functions as center of expertise within the Optimisation department, while also extending its support to company-wide initiatives. Our role involves supporting strategic investment initiatives, structuring and managing long-term energy contracts, and defending Luminus' position regarding market design evolutions with relevant market stakeholders.
As part of the team, the Market Design Manager is responsible for the follow-up of the market design and regulatory framework to support Luminus in a fast-changing energy landscape. Additionally he/she manages the contracts of the services concluded with the Transmission/Distribution System Operators, as well as the Nuclear Contracts that Luminus has with EDF and Engie.
**Your daily job**
- You lead and coordinate the internal process regarding market design evolutions. This includes integrating European electricity and gas markets, ancillary services markets, the balancing mechanism, congestion management, offshore integration, renewable support mechanisms, Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM), Consumer Centric Market Model (CCMD), and more to identify and anticipate business risks and opportunities.
- You actively participate in external working groups organized by the TSO/DSO, defending Luminus’ interests by preparing proposals for improvement, responding to consultations, and preparing position papers in close cooperation with Corporate Affairs and other concerned Luminus teams.
- You organize internal transversal working groups within and beyond the Optimization department to exchange information and facilitate discussions on TSO/DSO market design, Capacity Remuneration Mechanism, and related topics.
- You analyze changes to regulatory documents and contracts established with the TSO/DSO, as well as the system operator’s short and long-term development plans, assessing their impact on Luminus.
- You assist relevant teams within and beyond the Optimization department in executing market design changes at both contractual and operational levels.
- You support Corporate Affairs as an expert in meetings with cabinets, administrations, regulators, and associations.
- You serve as the spokesperson of the Optimization department towards the TSO & DSO for all market design and contractual matters, maintaining regular contact with the TSO’s & DSO’s Key Account Managers.
- You participate in TSO tenders (contracts >1 day) and manage the related contracts, including CRM, black start, and MVAR.
- You manage the nuclear contracts with EDF and Engie, including preparation and participation in the Comité de Liaison.
- You compile and prepare the budget for nuclear participations, covering Opex, Capex, fuel costs, dismantling costs, and nuclear tax.
- You maintain a comprehensive overview and advise your line management on the technical or strategic directions to be taken.
- You stay up-to-date with customers’ needs and emerging technologies within the energy sector to ensure our assets/products remain competitive.
- You interact with the Retail, Wind, Thermal, Legal, Corporate Affairs, and Optimization departments to formulate recommendations for our assets, product use cases, or pilot projects.
- You coordinate two Market Design analysts within the Portfolio Structuring team, ensuring effective communication, organizing the Market Design workflow, and prioritizing tasks to efficiently advance Portfolio Structuring team goals.
**Your profile**
- You have a Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Engineering, Economics, or an equivalent field.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the energy sector.
- You possess in-depth knowledge of wholesale energy markets, ancillary services markets, the capacity market, and Luminus' electricity and gas portfolio.
- You have a helicopter view, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to understand complex topics and concepts.
- You possess effective interpersonal skills, fostering relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- You are communicative, with great presentation and written communication skills, able to synthesize information effectively.
- You are fluent in at least two languages, either French/English or Dutch/English.
- You are a team player, innovative, organized, and customer-oriented.
