As a Senior Manager - Legal Counsel you will mainly provide legal support to the Belgian legal entity dedicated to vaccines:
- Main legal entity of the vaccine’s business
- 3 Belgian sites (Rixensart, Wavre, Les Isnes)
- +/- 8.000 employees
Position based in Belgium, part of a global team within GSK Legal Department which is Business Development and Corporate with people based in UK, US, Italy and Belgium.
- This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following _
**1)Real Estate/ Environment and Town planning**
To be the legal partner of the business (several departments including Technical Services, EHS, Procurement, Site Management, WWRE) for the Belgian sites:
- For the acquisition and disposal of real estate properties (to provide legal support with the deal, to prepare the notary deeds with public officers, to revie them and to sign the notary deeds on behalf of the company after all internal approvals are obtained.)
- To make sure that all permits legally required i) to start investments/projects have been obtained, ii) that activities performed by sites are all covered by required permits and iii) the operations can be carried out in time and in compliance with applicable laws : to assess the necessity to obtain a permit; to make recommendations to and to build up solutions with the business, to prepare the files with engineers, users, architects,; to introduce and negotiate with authorities or provide support to the business in charge, to follow the procedure, to set up and to keep up to date database.
- To provide legal advice, to make recommendations to and to build up solutions with the business
- To provide legal support for the audits from the authorities (Environmental Police, local authorities ) or internal audits
- To manage contracts relating to real estate and warehouse with third parties (capex contracts) in Belgium and abroad : to negotiate, to draft, to amend, to standardizeand coordination with other departments (procurement, finance, real estate, EHS ). It does include contracts with public authorities (InBw ).
- To be a member of deciding governing bodies in site management, and real estate matters (for example: Sites Management Committees).
- To manage dispute and litigation in these matters (with neighbours, authorities )
- Liaise with a network of local advisers to help local operations to comply with rules.
**2)Corporate law**
- To work with N+1 and the paralegal of the team in the corporate law matters and corporate secretariat relating to the legal entities in Belgium and some legal entities abroad (Canada, Hungary.) of the vaccines ‘business.
- To follow the legislation, anticipate and inform the business.
- To be a member of lobbying associations, professional associations to promote laws which take business constraints into consideration and to influence any modification of laws if necessary for the business.
- To give the appropriate trainings to the business
- The position could also include legal support in other matters and/or other business areas (general medicines, speciality medicines) handled with in the team Business Development and Corporate depending on the evolution of the organization/ the projects.

**Basic Qualifications**:
- We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:_
- Belgian University degree in law and specialized university degree (or equivalent relevant experience) in i)real estate and/or environmental matters and/or ii)corporate law.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a law firm or as in-house lawyer.
- Continuous trainings in law and environmental matters in a changing legal environment.
- Fluent in English and in French. Flemish is an asset.
