**1. Job Description**
**_ 1.1. General tasks _**
The holder of this position will gain detailed experience with EU politics, with the organisation and execution of interest representation and knowledge on the technical dimension of the environmental issues addressed. The job activity will also result in an extensive network of personal contacts within the EU and global steel industry but also with other industries, EU-institutions and international institutions.
A Manager Process emissions, engages in all technical and legal aspects of defined environmental issues, in particular related to the Industrial Emissions Directive, the Best Available Techniques Reference Documents (decision on BAT conclusions) and the EU legislation on air quality. In doing so, he/she shall strive to build common positions on topics of common concern to the EUROFER members and to promote these.
He/she will support and report to the Director Environment and Research and, as appropriate, EUROFER members in addressing issues with environmental and technical implications for the steel industry, especially in relation to draft EU legislation. In particular, he/she provides support to the Secretariat for the EUROFER Environment Committee and related Working Groups (among others industrial emissions WG, shadow working groups dealing with review of BREFs, air quality WG).
He/she helps to promote the interests of the steel industry by developing and maintaining personal contacts with officials of the European Institutions, particularly in the European Commission JRC (EU BRITE, INCITE), Environment and Growth Directorates.

He/she represents the steel industry in formal and informal European Commission consultation meetings.
He/she should maintain good relations with other relevant industry organisations both on the level of the EU and internationally.
He/she will also work closely with other EUROFER departments and coordinate the work with these.
**_ 1.2 Specific main tasks (as currently being the main focus of activities) _**
Currently, the review of the Surface Treatment of Metals and Plastics (STM) and
Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) BREFs. Participation in the new Landfill BREF with the so-called frontloading in Q4 of 2024 and the Kick-off-Meeting (KoM) in 2025. Also, the preparatory for the revision of the Iron &
Steel (I&S) BREF with the KoM in 2026. Follow-up the activities on EU legislation on air quality.
**2. Profile**
The profile covers both personal skills and profession related interests, experience and education.
- Essential requirements _
- Technical experience (ideally in the steel industry but not necessarily) and education (university degree or equivalent education in science, technology or engineering)
- Interest in and understanding of political procedures
- Ability to work independently and take initiatives
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to engage and integrate own activities in team-oriented activities (e.g., within EUROFER and common industry initiatives)
- Fluency in English
- Good social and personal interaction skills
- Working knowledge of standard office software (esp. spreadsheet calculation)
- Desirable requirements _
- Experience consensual based organisations for the representation of interest
- Some knowledge of environmental aspects of the steel industry
- Knowledge on pollution abatement technologies, permitting
- Knowledge/experience of the EU institutions and their functioning
**3. Location**
Based in Brussels (Belgium) at the offices of EUROFER, Avenue de Cortenbergh 172.
**4. Duration and employment status**
Undetermined, fixed EUROFER contract will be offered3.
