MISSION
The Head of Legal administers the general legal requirements from the company, providing counseling and legal guidance. Adopts a proactive, business-oriented approach in the process of supporting the commercial operations. Advises the company concerning its contractual and statutory obligations, dealing with the major disputes and litigations, support the decision-making processes of the management with detailed risk assessments.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Acts as partner in all activities related to contractual negotiations and statutory obligations of the company.
- Negotiates, verifies and draws up the standard terms and conditions of international and national contracts, including the entire appropriate contractual documentation and other agreements in close cooperation with other departments (commercial, regulatory, financial), in particular in the field of international contracts, intellectual property and legislation on medicines and healthcare, competition law, labor law and company law.
- Reviews and draws up all types of opinions and analyses and evaluates the proposals and other situations that may have a legal impact (including financial/fiscal).
- Manages and coordinates litigations to apply, protect and/or defend the legal rights (including coordination of activities with external advisers). Deals with providing external legal services, when it cannot be provided by the human resources of the company.
- Supports and gives counseling to the employees of all departments in case of any disputes and conflicts concerning litigations and problems involving the State control authorities.
- Constantly and accurately observes the relevant statutory environment and its modifications and reviews and draws up all types of statutory legal and other documents to ensure the legislative compliance of the company and its corporate structure.
- Ensures the compliance with the legislation and Novartis/Sandoz policies and standards. Reviews and develops relevant policies/procedures. Adapts existing recommendations in order to establish the daily activities and operations.
- Provides proactive legal services and counseling to all functions within the company. Gives complex and contextual counseling and legal guidance (including training of major customers in specific legal areas), based on operational and business discernment, establishing the legal necessities in the context of competitive operational needs.
- Cooperates with its counterparts in the legal field globally to support and improve the performance level of the function globally and to enhance a strong international network. Interacts with other legal divisions/departments of the group to ensure coordinated actions/approaches.
- Participation to the development, recommendation and implementation of policies, procedures and recommendations of legal nature within the company.
- Informs upon the legal problems and provides legal involvement in good time to protect the legal position of the company and to increase opportunities for solving in good time the problems, by providing timely advice to facilitate decision making at the management level.

**Minimum requirements**
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree in Law
- 5-10 years legal experience preferably in health or pharmaceutical industry or within a reputable law firm representing clients in health and technology industry.
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships.
- Broad experience in solving a large volume of work involving multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local laws.
- Experience of identifying and advising on anti-trust questions, preferably for innovator or generics businesses.
