Nxtgen - Junior Risk & Compliance Consultant

As a Risk & Compliance Consultant you’ll enrol in our 2-year paid NXTGen Traineeship, meant to fast-track your career as a Risk & Compliance Expert in the financial sector. The program combines soft and hard skill training with mentoring, all while gaining on-the-job experience as a Risk & Compliance Consultant in a client-facing role.
It's a challenging time for financial institutions, as they experience more and more pressure to adhere with increasingly complex laws and regulations. As a Risk & Compliance Consultant, you’ll play a crucial role in securing our clients’ integrity and reputation. Your tasks will include:
- Monitor and advise clients and ensure that their business operations are compliant with laws and regulations and the supervisory practice of the local and European regulators (NBB/DNB/AFM/FSMA/...)
- Contribute to regulatory remediation programs following external recommendations
- Manage Risk & Compliance questions and challenges
- Facilitate interactions with regulators (investigations, information requests, etc.)
- Contribute to awareness and training for changes in legislation and draw up best practices to support upcoming transitions
- Contribute to internal product development aimed at simplifying the compliance cycle, preferably by developing and/or deploying digital tools.
Of course, you won’t be doing this alone. You’ll have support from your fellow trainees, in-office mentors and talent development coaches from Exellys, so you can realise your full potential.
**Ideally you have the following skills**:
- You’ve enjoyed a higher education in a law/finance-related field
- Proficiency in English and either Dutch or French are a must
- Willingness to travel abroad on a regular basis
- Strong academic knowledge with regards to financial regulations, preferably combined with relevant legal/paralegal internships
- A genuine interest in and willingness to evolve your knowledge in the field of Compliance
- You strive for correctness without being rigid. You know how to maintain a healthy balance between sound business operations that comply with laws and regulations on the one hand, and pragmatism on the other.
- Excellent communication skills
- You’re not afraid to speak your mind and you’re able to convince others with your enthusiasm
